captured the valhalla

Post by mallard » Fri, 21. Jun 13, 15:07

I successfully captured a valhalla today and I want to share it with everyone

I captured it using my cobra and 20 x 5* marines

I found it in circle of labour with another valhalla, 3 aegirs and 5 vidars.

It took me three attempts. I eventually had to destroy the escorts. Even then I only got it with 20% hull (cost me over 100 million to repair). Not to mention the rep loss. I went from hero of sol to renegrade. I have got it all back now after a couple of hours of doing missions.

Congratulations!

Make a Creative Universe in-character story about it, with dialogue and combat tactics description etc.

Nice big ship. I haven't gotten one of those yet. How did your marines fare? all survive the boarding? any loses?
[XTrilogy]: Holy Argnu cows! I have found it! An asteroid of pure ore - 100% - I am rich! Now, I just need to find one like that made from silicon. hmmm, where do I want to go today?

I remember capturing my first Valhalla. I felt like a badass tractoring it to the Argon Prime shipyard for repairs - the pride of the ATF fleet, take. As prize and brought as trophy to the Argon capital.

Then I gave it Grand Exchange North Gate duties.

The Creative Story sounds fun; I might have to do one of those.

I have 13 Valhallas now. If you no-reploss missile barrage the escorts and start above 15% Hero of Sol, you can board both and still have enough rep to use their jump beacons. If you rebuild your rep quickly, you might come back to see that they respawned -that's how I got so many of them.

Regarding their use, they can carry 10 Sturgeons or other TS ships - so I found them useful for resupplying my M7M during the end of Shady Business - they can also use those 10 slots for bombers or corvettes - and the combination of shields and armament make them a good choice for blockade ships, though you'll need to dock them to an Aran to get them into sectors without jump beacons.

The Valhalla's speed makes it little good for anything except blockades and defense, really. They're closer to mobile Orbital Defense stations than battleships. Perhaps that's what defines an M0, I suppose; the Xenon Mothership wasn't very mobile in XBTF.

No losses. I made sure they were 100 in everything before I went after the valhalla (cost me a quite a bit)

I did almost the same. expect I had given the valhalla my jumpdrive so I jumped it in and flew it to the shipyard under its own power.

I've been using the aran to get it around. My headquaters is in preachers void so I had to use the aran to get it in. I'll now have to look for a jump beacon to make it more usable

The BBCode for quoting is [ quote = "person's name" ] , not [ person's name wrote ]

I preferred towing it in myself because it felt more like dragging it in chains as a prize, rather than like limping wounded home.

I heard the Valhalla was too big to fit through gates, is this true? I was thinking to board one myself along with the Woden that are patrolling Circle of Labour.

It is too big, but you can get around it by using the aran. just dock it, jump to the sector you want it in, and then undock it. You just need to do it all out of sector otherwise both ships with blow up

Thanks, I'll have to get an Aran first though. :D
