You need to visit the zones next to pirate/yaki and look for stations with lightbulb missions. You can hack a station in a zone up to three sectors away.
It's a mission like the rest of the missions, except they give you a list of stations with prices to hack them. You only get to pick one station and it will change them from red to blue for a price.
They still might not let you dock if your rep is too low however. So check around for missions in friendly zones being offered by pirates/yaki as well to improve your rep.
Avoid doing assassination/station defense missions with pirates/yaki as targets, otherwise the stations will turn red again.

i'm not sure how i got the idea that SOS was needed to do station hacking.
does/do the station(s) remain friendly until i do one of the above? that would be great for buying the PBG's i want for my IS heavy fighter escorts. of course i'll be outfitting springblossoms once i get my faction high enough. have 18 (lost 7 to pirate raids) lvl 25 traders trained and ready to go do just that. once i move them up there, i'll be training another 25 for making some serious Cr in the sectors my current traders are in. of course will take time to get them trained but i won't be losing as many this time since i'm setting up skiron patrols. not cheap by any means!
Those are the two ways to get them - station hack the PBG forges or capture/destroy ships that carry them.Deathtoll666 wrote:oh, i thought i read that it allowed you to hack stations (get access to enemy stations).
how do i get PBG's without a station hack? other than killing pirates/xenon. i have had NO luck getting them from xenon or pirates.
Argon military fighters in War sectors frequently use them.
There is another way to acquire PBGs that doesn't require you to become friendly with anyone, but it requires a lot of patience. That is to destroy the existing Pirate PBG forges in the Maelstrom area and wait for the GOD engine to send along an Albatross with a forge in its hold (usually comes from Grand Exchange), then board it. Hey presto your very own PBG Forge
Granted that this is not easy by any means. You have to have a ship big enough to take down the station, and marines so that you can board the TL, but it is doable. Its how I got my first two PBG forges.
It could take a very long time for this to happen though.

There is yet another way. Get your standings pretty high with the pirates, then blow up the PBG forge. Then repair your pirate rep once more. When it's eventually replaced, it should be blue if your standings with the pirates are good enough. This, too, requires a lot of patience, though.
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

i thought they just popped in at a random place. i didn't think the pirates themselves would be using a TL to ship it in. we'll see if i can get a station hack to get some. if not, i'll be going after the TL.Maahes wrote:There is another way to acquire PBGs that doesn't require you to become friendly with anyone, but it requires a lot of patience. If you are playing AP with Shady Business there is one other way.Nanook wrote:There is yet another way. Get your standings pretty high with the pirates, then blow up the PBG forge. Accept Berylls proposition and you can buy IBL and PBG stations as well as bliss places, space fuel distilleries, and wheat farms.
I took this because I am playing a terran and constantly attack argons. I would have no access
to space fuel distilleries and wheat farms otherwise.

I haven't been able to find conclusive information about the rewards of the three choices. Beryll seems to give access to Yaki stations like you mentioned. What do the other choices grant?
This is true but don't forget.....Berserkenstein wrote:If you are playing AP with Shady Business there is one other way.

You'll still need very good standings with the Yaki to purchase them and dock at their shipyard. I'm not sure but I think the reputation requirement for the IBL forge is similar to a PPC forge.
As I was already friends with them I didn't notice if doing the Beryll route on this part of the plot increases Yaki rep at all. It would make sense if it did. Can anyone confirm?
