Why Can't I Be a Pious Paranid?

Post by Fraggle Rock » Mon, 5. Aug 13, 22:00

I am very confused, and would appreciate someone telling me what I'm doing wrong.

I want to unlock the Pious Paranid gamestart, so even though I'm a natural trader, I have kept killing pirates till I am now at Fighter Chief combat rank, one past Specialist.

However, still no Pious Paranid when I try to start a new game?

Is there something extra and simple that I am missing?

Many thanks for any helpful advice!

PS Btw, I am playing the most up to date version of TC, 3.2

I can't find any other requirements for that start, so it seems like it should be enabled. I'd probably just turn it on in the registry and be done with it.

Well, the FAQ lists the prerequisite as Fight Rank: Specialist (3333), but the combat ranks FAQ has Specialist (2000), and you would have to be 24% into Fighter Chief (2500) to actually be at Fighter Chief (3333).

I think they got the rank names wrong for the prerequisite.

The Boring Boron start above it in the FAQ has a prerequisite of "Petty Financier (3333)" and that is the correct title for 3000 points or more. However, the correct fight rank name for 3333 points is Fighter Chief (24% into it).

So, keep going a little bit more with your fight rank, you should be really close.

Or, you can also cheat and enable all starts with a cheat registry edit:
Spoiler
Show
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Egosoft\X3TC\GameStarts=fffff
That will enable all of them without having to do the prerequisites.

Thanks guys for your advice, I'll push on past 24% in Fighter Chief and see if that is the answer!

Glad to report I have got up to 29% Fighter Chief and Pious Paranid is now unlocked as a game start.

Many thanks to ajax34i and Timsup2nothin for your help :)
