just wanted to share a solution to Windows 8 no voices or music ingame problem I experienced - since I didn't find a similar solution anywhere on these forums.
After trying to fiddle with sound drivers, installing some weird codec packs etc. I simply installed Windows Media Player (not installed in my win8 by default) and suddenly both voices and music appeared.
