I'm 100% sure, there's another topic about this problem, but i couldn't find it. If someone could give me a link, i'd be glad.
I have 2 lasertoers in elenas fortune guarding my megaplex. I was towing mines into their right place in antigone memorial, when the autopilot warned me about that one of my ships is under attack. I visited E.F. and I 've seen, that my LTs were attacking a totally innocent freighter, and the police were blowing them. I apologized to the policemen, they went away... then my towers started firing at another innocent guy. I checked their comm menu, argon was set to foe. i reset it, after a second, it turned back and they started to fire again. What's the solution?

Check your global settings, make sure they're set to draw their IFF settings from your global settings. But really, the long term solution is don't use lasertowers in heavily populated sectors. They're unfortunately rather daft when it comes to IFF settings, and don't tend to draw from your global settings, being overridden by local settings, IE getting shot at by a faction sets all lasertowers in the area hostile, and you have to set them back to their desired IFF one by one.
Only use them in areas where very few ships are likely to tread; and those that do, you probably want dead. Like way back protecting the factories many kilometers back from a complex hub, where the only reason a ship should be there is to attack the factories.

They've been doing that. the complex hub is 20 km away.
And yes, the global settings, and everyything else is totally OK, i think they just taught 'Let's screw his mind up, so he has to leave his half-made complex and check us.' - 'Yeah that's a good idea.. Look theres a nice Mercury... Let's shoot it down...'

I don't really remember the friend/foe attributes of laser towers. Mainly because I haven't played TC in about a year, and haven't used towers for even longer. (towers are pretty much useless when you're out of system from them.)
Did you home base the lasers to the complex? If so, the complex's friend/foe settings override the individual tower's friend/foe settings In which case you need to change the complex's list and not the tower's.
I do remember that the show enemy if enemy to me can be problematic for your Cags and MK3's when combined with setting the turret to attack all enemies. What happens is if a stray shot hits a factory or another ship (which can only happen when you are in the same system), then that stray shot turns a friendly into an enemy, which in turn updates the friend/foe settings for your transport, making your transport attack the given race whenever one is in range. Which then will lead to it's own demise. One solution for your transports is to never set the turret to attack all enemies, and only set it to protect the ship or missile defense.
The other problem is Pirates. In that not all are hostile once you start building factories and trading. Having all the pirates friendly towards you makes things much easier, too. But setting them to foe will keep them hostile due to your automated ships taking pot shots at them. So, again setting the turrets to protect instead of attack combined with setting pirates to friend and turning on the show enemy if one to me, will eventually make the universe a bit more friendly, once you have automated ships trading stuff, everywhere.
Why? because Pirate Bases in a Race sector, are treated as a Race as far as Race ranks are concerned. So once that pirate base become blue (due to trading in their sector)... it's home based ships become blue to you as well.... This is one of the reasons why you'll see friendly pirates flying around if you toggle on that show enemy if enemy to me.
BTW: show enemy if enemy to me ignores the global friend/foe setting. The global list is an on/off toggle for all ships of a given race. While the show enemy if enemy to me is as it sounds. A pure ship to ship status.
Also add in the factor that automated ships update their personal friend/foe status whenever a laser of a given race hits them.... then add in that the global setting updates as well, if the show enemy if enemy to me is off, and what you end up with is a confusing mess.
