[X3TC] Ship capping question ... KOS?
Last night I was in my Vidar had 5 marines on board which need some fighting skill up. So I checked through the systems with Satellites and found one with a single Caravel ( Bala Gi's Joy a pirate system ). I jump there and dispatch his landed ships quickly. Save the game then goto work on taking over the ship. During the fight, he comms for help anyone I need assistance shields are down. I thought ya ya ok. There was nothing else in system at the time of the fight. I capped the ship and just as I'm about to make my escape, an Argon Military Cerberus comes though the west gate from Farnham's Legend. I didn't act so quickly and he blew up my prize. Before that happened I tried to comm him and turn him blue again he wasn't having any of it. My reputation with Argon is maxed at 10 about 21% in. I was wondering why this guy is red to me?
Is it because my act of taking over another ship is considered piracy and I'm considered a pirate, attack-able on sight?
Was the Cerberus responding to an actual distress call to help a pirate... or do you think it was random chance he was patrolling through that system, 2 or 3 jumps from Argon space?

I should state I did reload transferred the JD a little quicker and got the heck out of there. Just still kinda wondering if taking over a ship is an act of piracy and you have some sort of red flag for a time period while you're in system?
I should also state that I checked the Caravel settings to make sure Argon was friend and they were set to my default settings when I took it over. So had me head scratching there.

possibly but he also attacked me in my Vidar, was red even after he destroyed it. I tried to comm he would flip blue for a second then back to red. Was very odd indeed. I mean the Faction AI's doesn't really respond to distress calls from pirates right? I thought it was just fluff but now I'm wondering since the pirate was of the Argon race.

Had something similar happen in my own game a few weeks back (haven't had much time to play lately ). In my case, I was grabbing a few abandoned Yaki fighters (courtesy of the NPC bailing add-on script), and it was a Paranid Nemesis and escorts that decided to open fire on them the moment I claimed them. My guess is those ships attacked a Paranid ship or two before the pilots bailed.
I did get three of the ships safely docked aboard a Deimos I called in to pick them up. Then, as a reward for annoying me, that Nemesis got a firestorm torpedo shoved down its throat. And so much for the Paranid letting me into their core sectors again (although I think that might've actually lasted a whole hour that time ).

The Paranid are easy enough to get on good terms with, I do it through killing off Pirates.
As far as capping goes, I captured four Pirate transports in about an hour last night, a Hermes, toucan and two XL Superfreighters.
Last night as a whole, I captured a Pirate Kea, also a Pirate Nova, which I accidently destroyed by crashing into, and another couple of ships that bailed but I could not stop firing in time.
