V.3.1.0(08/01/2014)

A Battlestar Galactica mod by Killerog, JCC and MilesRS


The X3ap Battlestar Galactica mod is a semi-total conversion mod. Although most elements within the xuniverse stay the same, this mod adds in a Battlestar Galactica start, along with all the ships, stations and weapons you would find in the BSG universe. A variety of other unique elements await your discovery.

Please Note: This mod requires a Game Restart!

Our official website is currently down. Work will be starting on a new one from the 1st of February 2016 onwards.

Please read this first post as there is important information and will prevent the posting of any already known bugs or other issues

-- FEATURES --

New Game Start - - This Game start features a unique story that will take you through our version of the Battlestar Galactica story.

New Ships - - Ships you may have seen in the TV series, and ships you may not have heard of but are part of the BSG universe.

New Weapons - - Weapon types found in the BSG universe: for example the large heavy batteries featured on the battlestar galactica!

New Gun Turret Models - - Unique animated 3d models of a variety of gun turrets found in the BSG universe: these include heavy batteries, point defence guns and even the Valkyrie class unique missile turret!

New Sectors - - New sectors that you will discover while you complete the variety of missions.

Original Plots are intact - - The original plots you find in x3ap are still available for you to complete, and should be attempted if you are to find further BSG content


Custom BSG music and Sound fx - - The mod features a custom range of music tracks created by a very talented composer (see Credits). All BSG weapons feature custom Sound effects.

Cylon 'invasions' - - Be prepared to constantly be on your toes..... You are not alone in this unknown universe, the cylons seem to have managed to follow you....

Custom Colonial styled hud - - A colonial customized styled hud, we even have a dradis!! (this part is still in development although a simple version is already implemented)

New additions in V. 3.03


NEW SHIP MODELS AND SHIP TEXTURES - - Most of the Colonial military ships have been replaced with updated 3d models and have also been re-textured. The Cylon basestar has also been replaced and re - textured.


NEW SHIPS - - V. 3.03 features a large amount of new ships, both for the cylons and colonials. I wont reveal anything so its for you to discover!


NEW STATIONS - - The colonials now feature a custom Trading station, Orbital defence station and Player HQ. More models are planned...


SHIP AND WEAPONS RE-BALANCING - - All ships and weapons have been re-balanced to balance out the game. You will now for example, have to think carefully about whether you want a heavily armed, armored ship that is slow, or one less armed and armored but is quicker.
Ships and weapons are no longer overpowered compared to the xuniverse races.


DISTINCT CHANGE TO CYLONS - - Cylon Basestars have been limited to missiles only as they would be in the BSG universe. Weapons have been re balanced to reflect this change. Be prepared to set certain turrets to Missile defence, your going to need to change the way you take on the cylons. You will no longer be able to just slug it out with them.


NEW SOUND EFFECTS AND MUSIC - - All BSG weapons now feature custom sound effects. And thanks to a Ellfin, a previous admin of the cry of the gods mod, we now have custom BSG music. (see Credits for further details)


CYLON 'INVASIONS' MODIFIED - - Cylons have been made a lot harder, but again thats for you to discover ;)


NEW WARES - - Viper Thruster Control: Ever wanted to attempt some of the crazy maneuvers you see viper pilots do in the series? Well now you can with the new Viper Thruster control ware. You will be required to set up a new hotkey for this. If you have the ware installed, pressing the hotkey will allow you to continue on your previous path but turn your ships in various directions to shoot!!!


- Point to point Jump drive: As long as your ships have an FTL coil installed, and at the cost of double the energy, you can make jumps anywhere in space at any coordinates you specify. This includes jumping your whole fleet!



- Colonial styled Hud and icons: - - All ship icons have been replaced with ones you would see on a colonial dradis, and the gravidar has been styled to look like a Dradis. This part of the update is incomplete. The hud still needs quite a bit done to it, but so far it looks really great in our opinion ;)

Important Notes

- SWITCH OF YOUR POST-PROCESS FILTER WHEN YOU ARE IN GAME - Due to some textures and there light maps, having this switched on will result in some rather bright ships

- Due to the size of the Pegasus please do not try and dock it at the Colonial trading station, this will probably result in its destruction. Similar to previous mod versions, just be aware that some colonial vessels are a lot bigger than xuniverse ship class equivalents, and so they may not dock properly (may explode or look like they have merged with the station).

Great job guys, thanks a lot!

UPS: I'm an idiot I suppose =) For a few days was making a set of mods and scripts for AP with this mod... And just don't have any ammo in the game (Viper Kew's Ammo or anything) =) Should blame some mod... Damn =( Will have to make clear reinstall without any scripts or so =)

By the way, I've just seen new model for Galactica, Pegasus an Defender... They are awesome, damn it, they are more detailed than any model I've ever seen for X3...

yea havent been able to figure out why yet, i think it may be linked to just having installed a new mod, or if you have made a change to it. Just restart and it should be fine!

This redownloaded version needs new game start or not?)

Played for two hours already and there is few problems I suppose (it may be connected with missing files in a first download..)

Anyway, first of all, Cylon's ships (not capital, m6 like heavy reider I suppose) use some sort of flak cannon (maybe Point defence flak guns?)/ It's ok for 2-3 ships, but if there are a few spawned ships I get real lags in case of dozens of flak animations...

The second thing is about Cylon spawn at all =) I had three (!) fleets spawned on me at once (with maybe dozen seconds between spawn). Is it ok?) That party could clear some war sector annihilating both terran and argons =)

UPD: After updating files get ZZ_WARE_.. (blah-blah) instead of ammo for all colonial guns =( It's time for new clear installation I think...

Anybody have troubles with performance due to flac cannons too?)
I just can't play when a dozen of cylon's heavy raiders attak... Maybe I should turn off some graphics settings or so? (My sys. config is not a reason I suppose: i7-3770K, 16GB RAM (cl9-1800), HD 6850 (really overclocked)).

And a real problem with undocking from Galactica. I think you could fix it =)
When not a viper undocking (tried on raptor and BSG shuttle), the ship just turns right nearby to an exit from docking bay. So, if you're not in galactica, it just fly through a wall of hangar and than stops, changes course and fly away without damage. BUT if you're in, the ship can't fly through a wall and just crashes =(

Did it after redownload of the mod. Put some scripts and a few spk files after, but they shoul do nothing to ships or docking process at all... =)

UPD: Am i the "chosen one" with my troubles?) Could anyone confirm normal undocking from Galactica?)

It,s a missle launcher which you can see in TV series =) They probably made as turrets i suppose in case that cylone basestars don't have any weaponry apart from missles =)

У меня нет такой, похоже на сторонний мод, вроде чистый кокпит из X2, такие добавляет X2-callback cocpits mod...

У тебя нормально отстыковываются рапторы от галактики?))

Well with a large update like this bugs are always going to be present let me split your reports up:

1) Cylons with flak cannons: This is a mistake, must have happened when compiling the final build - will fix in a patch

2) Cylon spawning times: we made a lot of adjustments here, its possible its a coincidence that they all spawned at once - PLEASE CONFIRM whether this happened again

3) FPS issues due to flak: Well this is probably when you had the cylon raiders with flak cannons shooting at you :P - when this is patched you should not have a problem.

4) To everyone with FPS issues: Make sure your postprocess filter is off and you may have to lower your graphics! When posting such an issue please be clear about what caused the issue. I read something about the Pegasus being an issue? PLEASE CONFIRM

5) Galactica undocking: I noticed this as well but everytime i undocked my ship never exploded, and neither did npcs - PLEASE CONFIRM that this is a major issue

Game needs a restart after every installation of this mod, unless otherwise stated



I will try and get something out today but i cannot promise anything due to prior commitments. If i cant do anything i will contact JCC and see if he can get a patch out this weekend. Its only small issues any way

Forgive for the Russian post, joining at me takes place successfully, without problems.
1.strange textures of GALACTICA.... why they have such colors, explain.
2.dock out is visible textures of GALACTICA (possibly it normally)
3.about the rest anything while I can't tell as I play recently

what on earth has happened to the galactica.... Ile check on my version but i think you have done something wrong with the installation....The galactica should not look like that

So some info;

1. I can confirm that external textures of the Galactica are ok. But Viper's tube is the same as on picture shmelyga posted. Also have really low-res landing strip's textures, but thought it is ok.

2. It's not playable with flak cannons at all =( Any cylon spawn makes terrible lags:
