I´m a bit disapointet

Post by T-Pow » Fri, 15. Nov 13, 12:08

Hello,
I have preordered the Collectors Edition and I am a little bit disapointet.
My Box hast just arrived and I inserted the DVD directly to install the game, entered the serial code and then... nothing. You cannot install.

Looked on the Steam Shop page and just saw, release in 2 hours.
Now thats no problem with me, BUT why can I preload the game with my damn slow DSL connection but cannot install it manualy from the disk and then patch it when steam opens the doors for everyone?
So that means no playing for me today...
I know that nowadays an online copy protection is a must have, but this is redicilous...

There's a way to install from disc too, someone will be along to point you in the right direction...

Edit.. too late, they're already here!

My favourite memory of the X series was babysitting that TL across half the universe in XTension and finally arriving in Getsu Fune to be gifted the TL! I called her Big Bad Orca...

Will you die if you don't play it right now? No.

Do you have the whole weekend to play? Yes.

You don't have to use the disc. As far as I have read if you just go to add game, put your steam key in, then it will start to pre load and then you should be good to go when they flick the switch. ( I think this is correct from what I have read.)

Do I have the whole weekend or even this evening? No.
Just my opinion. Preload yes? Preinstall no?
How silly is that?

Maybe you misunderstood me. I want to use the disk because of my slow internet connection.

You need to use the preinstall function.

It'll be fine after it's officially released.

You have the FULL game on the disc; only the Preload will let you 'install' things BEFORE its officially released. Had the same issue with Fallout: New Vegas back in the day [and quickly realised why].

Wait a little over 30 mins and try again --- it'll work fine.

[and if it doesn't, which I'm 90% sure it will work fine, complain to Steam]

Cheers,
M.

What I understood is that you can install the game AFTER the game is unlocked. You cannot pre-install the game from an DVD before this unlock.

As said - that's what I understood...

Consider yourself lucky tough. I am still waiting for the delivery of the box. As the postal service delivery is mostly before 12:00 local time (Netherlands) - and that time is passed already, I am afraid I wont see it today... sigh... Well.. maybe tomorrow.. or next week...

I know that I can wait till release. I just wanted to mention that it´s a bit silly that you can pleload but you cannot preinstall.
It´s a kind of "what Egosoft or Steam can do better in the next release post"
So please stop telling me things that are obvious.

Wrong. You don´t have the full game. You have to download 1,5Gb of data after installing it.

If the full game is on the disc but not encrypted, that would be why it prevents you from pre-installing, the pre-loads are encrypted so no-one can get at the contents. I suspect the Disc wont let people install to prevent people getting at the contents ;)

Obvious? At no point did you make it clear that you knew you could install it after the game unlocked. So no, it was not obvious. I won't bother to try and help next time. :P

Just be patient; I can't believe people are getting so bent out of shape over a computer game.

It'll all work out in the end.

So now I have to quote myself just to satisfy AkrionXxarr....
