omicron help

hi ive done part of the mission tried to get my dad out but the part after where u have to attack certain parts is there an easier way to attack than flying through the beams that spin around???
any help would be appreciated

Find a good spot and just kill your engines and float there blasting away. If you are careful you can even sit within the ships rotating bits and this should stop enemies firing at you as well.
