6.2 gig update for X3TC on Steam

Post by jasonbarron » Sat, 11. Jan 14, 01:07

As the title of the thread says, Steam just started downloading a HUGE update for X3TC--does anybody know anything about this?

Lets get the obvious out of the way.

1. Did you try to play it when it is not installed?

2. Did you uninstall AP then try to play TC?

Thanks for the response, Sinxar.

To answer your questions--neither. Both games have been installed and gathering dust in my Steam library for months now--when I fired up my PC this afternoon, Steam automatically started downloading the update.

Weird that it would do that.

You might be able to stop it and make it verify cache files, but it may not be possible if it is in the middle of an update. If you have the games backed up locally I would just delete the install and reinstall when you wanna play again.

Ok, thanks both of you. I'll just let it do it's thing :)

I had this recently too. Suddenly couldn't open AP despite having played it a few hours before, and found TC needed to download 6GB. Not sure, but that might be the entire game.

This is complete supposition but this might make sense. Steam has changed the file handling system over the years and with older games needs to "re-organize" them in the new format. I know it had to redo all my Race07 and DLC because of it.

Just speculation tho.

INSTG8R:

I think you are right I had the same sized download last year even though I had only recently verified my game files.
