Hello, does anyone on here know whether auto-aim exists in the original X game and X2? feel like playing through the series in order. thanks

thanks, do I just need to buy flight control software or are there other requirements for the activation of auto-assist?

Been a long time since I played those games, but I'm pretty sure they all use versions of the Fight Command software.

No such thing in my X-BTF save. There is Motion Analysis Relay System (MARS) though. Split tech, hotkey is 'U'. Makes your ship to follow target. Not "cheap".

If http://www.klarix.de/xbtf/en/XFrSet3.html is reliable, then X-T is about the same.

X2 has Fight Command Software Mk1 and Mk2 and therefore "auto-assist".

Most likely, the first two games had it kinda built in, whereas in the later games, aiming help was an option. I certainly don't remember having too much trouble hitting things in the first games. :gruebel:

I know X2 had it with Fight Command Software Mk2.

Can't comment on XBTF.

I'm pretty sure BtF and XT didn't have auto-aim. You could get a lead reticle (at least, I can picture it in XT, if not BtF) but you still had to point your nose directly at it.

Capturing the Perseus would have been a whole lot easier with auto-aim. ;)

On the other hand, it was a whole lot easier than it would've been in the later games if you didn't have autoaim activated. :wink: As I remember it, the aiming reticle was a guide, but the shots would still hit if you were within a a few degrees of center. You didn't have to be exact like you do in the current games without autoaim on.

Isn't that just the result of the mechanics meaning that dogfights took place at closer quarters? It does kind of amount to the same thing though.
