Buying an M1 - can you help me decide?
Hey guys,
I'm looking for good ship that can serve as command ship, battlship piloted by player. As M2 class is my main assault force, I need decent M1.
That's why I'm asking for help in making decision which to buy.
Argon Colossus
Split Raptor
Boron Shark
Terran Tokyo
Maybe I should board one of these, tons of turrets, strong ones.

Assumed it's AP.
Get a Pteranodon instead. Not exactly an M1, but it can dock 16 fighters. Strong shield + Fastest M2 + 8 PPCs main guns + Insane laser turrets + Slim profile. What more can you ask for a personal battleship?

I'm playing Terran Conflict, sorry for not mentioning that in the first post.
I need M1 ship because sometimes I lack fighters number in firefights although I'm using split elephant as drone carrier.

Okay, I'll buy the Split Raptor as soon as I have 90 million spare credits. I'm gathering creds to buy my own sector, shouldnt take that long
What about loadout?
PPC's + CIG's + FAAs ?

Seconded. More firepower, more shielding (combined), faster and if one goes down you still have the other one.ancienthighway wrote:I think 2 Panthers.
Edit: Another plus is that you can launch you fighters faster (each Panther launches waves of ten).

1 is good enough, esp. when the OP plans to use it as a player ship. It outperforms Raptor in almost all aspects except for the hanger capacity.ancienthighway wrote:I think 2 Panthers.
Besides, Panther is the only carrier in TC that has decent frontal power. It's always been my 1st choice.

Yeah, I'd go with a Panther as well--it's a much nicer ship to fly than any M1, packs a reasonable amount of firepower in its own right, and in TC can dock 32 ships, which is not far off a full-blown carrier (the Shark only docks 45, for instance). The only possible sticking point is the availability of IBLs--you really need those for a Panther to work at its best.

I've already got 2 Panthers on patrol duty in Unknown Sector near PTNI HQ and right under Legend's Home. Suprisingly Pirate's regurarly try raiding these sectors, maybe because I shoot pirates and yaki on sight.
I'll get one Raptor and split roles between it and Cobra.
By the way, I've found yesterday in Aladna Hill huge Paranid force invading entire sector, taking out Argon ships and buildings. They have even targeted my station which I had to defend with my entire fleet, although I used to have highest rank.
Why did they attack an entire sector ?

The Paranid dont like Aladna hill, i use the place to collect fleet weapons after a big pile up, and if your stations are there its just luck.Martinez90 wrote: By the way, I've found yesterday in Aladna Hill huge Paranid force invading entire sector, taking out Argon ships and buildings. ps
why buy in TC/
I picked up a few Yaki M1 and they work fine for me as a carrier group especially if you fill up 3 of them and still cheaper than buying....

Thank you for telling me. I didn't even know they are hostile towards each other. Teladi are very likely to do so in the name of profitsssss. Still it's sad they attacked my base although high positive reputation. Still I've enjoyed wiping their M2's and other ships out
Well my marines are not qualified yet by fighting rank to take over any other ships (2 stars). I'm also buying 2nd M7M ship as backup for capping ships.

They are not outright hostile, its just a random patrol thing through somebodies space, paranid and argon then there is boron and split, there is usually a good idea to follow a roving patrol so you can pick up cargo for free as long as your friendly with all fractions, shooting them hurts your rep so they will open fire on you as well
as boarding goes my philosophy suggest that marines gotta start somewhere to improve, if the first batch doesnt work send another batch.
Forgot to mention there are 2 Yaki M1, the Hoshi is the faster one and there is the Shuri which is rarer but is the same as the Argon M1 but free!!!!!

Here I am, late to the party again, what a surprise.
As an avid fan of M1s, I can say that the Raptor is a great choice, although it isn't one of my personal favorites, I find it's shielding to be too low if things go badly.
My personal favorites among the 'easily obtainable' M1s are the Shark and Tokyo, with the Condor getting an honorable mention. The Shark is reasonably fast for a heavy carrier, has very respectable shielding, and can strip the shields off of any other cap. ship in short order with it's ion cannons, allowing your 45 fighters to smash the hull directly.
The Tokyo is more along the lines of an M2 with a fighter bay. Hilariously heavy shielding, ample firepower, reasonable fighter compliment (For real hysteria, bring 50 fully loaded Cutlass or Fenrir fighters.) Oh, and Wraith missiles. Who needs an M7M when you can carry Wraiths? This is my favorite M1 to fly.
The Condor gets the honorable mention for being right smack in the middle of those two in terms of firepower, shields, and hangar space. The only reason I don't typically recommend the Condor is it is painfully slow. I've been outrun by stations when flying a Condor.
