There is no Yaki M7 in updated vanilla X3TC. (There were a couple of Yaki M7 Hauler types in a very early vanilla X3TC version before they were patched out, but neither were the Senshi.) The Senshi does appear in vanilla X3AP though.

ok :)

So I have now bought myself an M7 capable of equipping boarding pods. I have installed the pods and it appears that all my marines have disappeared!!! are they in the pods?

I had about 10 fully trained up (many games hours) and now they are just simply not aboard :(

@ RayF: As in the early days of TC they were considered unbalancing for the Yaki at that time and they were not very good ships for that class anyway should they end up in Player hands. The easy way to resolve that quickly would have been to take them out of the vanilla jobs file so that they just would not appear in the vanilla game even though their ship datafiles were still there in the gamefiles. X3AP brought them back into use in a much improved manner. (All in my opinion of course.)

Nine times out of ten the 'my marines disappeared' situation turns out to be 'I transferred my marines to a ship with no cargo life support'. Not saying that's what happened here, but something to think about. It would sure be convenient if that turned them into 'dead marine' cargo so that players would know what they did.

I don't think it's possible to transfer people to a ship without life support. On the other hand it is possible to remove life support from a ship with people on it and thus loose the people.

What may have happened is the ships with the marines transferred the CLS to the M7M since the marines couldn't be on it without, only to have them die since they can't be on a ship without CLS.

I once lost about 2.5 hours of game time because I reloaded after finally noticing that 8 highly skilled marines died when I transferred my cargo life support system from a TM to one of its docked fighters (was parked at a Pirate Base and "stocking up" on extra systems).

On a semi-related note, will the Yaki Senshi ever appear under AI control in Albion Prelude, or is it only available from the shipyard? The only one of their M7 class ships that I can remember seeing in space is the Akurei.

The Senshi is an M7M. I don't think I've ever seen it in space.

The Senshi isn't really remarkable for its class anyway except for its relatively very cheap price and low rep requirement (just need to be on non-hostile terms with the Yaki).

On the Marine issue, I probably have removed life support from a ship they were on (or something similar). I was restructuring my fleet at the time :(

But here we are 12 hours later and I'm almost back to where I was haha

The Senshi btw, can it launch boarding pods?

Also where in TC can I cap a Pirate Galleon? (I can't think that I have ever seen one in sector)

Senshi can launch boarding pods. Check out the rest of Roguey's ship database for other ships, too.

Galleon, you may be able to find one in Gaian's Star or thereabouts. It's a core pirate sector.

I've seen them randomly and frequently in Pirate sectors, and they make occasional unwanted appearances in places like Elena's Fortune. I'd suggest flying to Elena's Fortune, heading south into Split Fire (or try the sector to the north), and then turning east into the more serious Pirates sectors beyond.

Good Pirate capital hunting grounds are Maelstrom and west, or in Loomanckstrat's Legacy and south. Veil of Delusion and Vestibule of Creation are worth a look too.

The X3AP vanilla Senshi M7M will equip and fire Mosquito, Hammer and Flail missiles as well as boarding pods.

haha I am still mighty confused in X3TC. So I have bought a Sirokos. It only appears to take boarding pods (which is ok) but no other missiles!!! How am I meant to strip ship shields and take out their fighters with only rear mounted turrets?

Am I missing something?

cheers

(I just want to outfit a M7 to perfect boarding)

"Am I missing something?" Yes, the other ship(s)/drones needed besides the Sirokos in order to take down the target's shields and keep them down using guns, missiles (or even ramming!). Think of multi-ship operations.

The Sirokos' strength is its ability to hold and launch more marines than other M7Ms (without in-fight resupply). This is useful when taking on difficult boarding targets such as Xenon capitals etc.

Cheers for that.

One last question (as if hahahaha). I have read that you can use drones to take out escorts and to lower shields of the target. I seem to remember it saying the amount of drones numbered ran into dozens. If this is the case do I have to instruct each individual drone or can I group them? I'm thinking as a wing or something

cheers
