Annoying glitch capping Carracks instead of assassinating

This is the second time I have capped a Carrack instead of killing it and it has promptly destroyed itself for no apparent reason.

Is it supposed to do that? Why does that happen?

It was definitely not due to hostile action. It just disappeared. :evil:

Was this part of a generic mission? If so, what kind? Some mission types have those ships scripted to disappear after the mission is complete. You can't save them.

Also, which game are you playing?

That's why. Those ships are scripted to disappear. Only thing you can do is blow them up. Sorry.

But I believe you can capture any escorts and keep them.

Thanks, Nanook. I won't bother again. Probably. I managed to get my marines out before it went so at least they got their Fight skill boosted.

You don't use marines for assassinations.
You just destroy the ship the target is on.

Marines are used for capping the ships you want to keep.

That's why you capped the ship each time.
