I noticed that there is a group of four Paranid sectors leading from the East Gate of Bluish Snout, in AP: Spires of Elysium, CEO's Wellspring, Guiding Star, Cathedral of Xaar. Has any pilot done much with these? Assuming no other exits, there would only be one gate to defend. It is near Xenon traffic, obviously.
Is there enough business for a Sector Trader?
Thanks.

Paranid Sectors in NE ??
Bill in S.F., enjoying the game
Are they Paranid or are they 1 belonging to each race?
They don't have many stations / factories, so there may not be enough business for a sector trader. Xenon don't usually go there, though, because they're a dead end pocket and Xenon ships usually travel between the Xenon sectors.
In X3TC, I believe they were "unknown" sectors and you could pick one as a reward for completing the plots, at which point it would get attached to the map for you. When Egosoft released AP, they just added all of them to the map as standard sectors.
They're mostly empty of NPC stations, and pretty full of good asteroids, so I think they're intended for players to set up their base of operations there. Plenty of ore and silicon, and multiple suns in each, to fuel large factory complexes. And otherwise they're out of the way so you don't have to go there and suffer the graphics lag caused by the large number of your factories.
They have beautiful views too.

The Xenon have two primary flight plans.ajax34i wrote:Xenon don't usually go there, though, because they're a dead end pocket and Xenon ships usually travel between the Xenon sectors.
- Reinforcement. Xenon SY(s) send replacements when their sectors have suffered casualties. This is from one Xenon sector to other.
- Sortie. Go out there and wreak havoc. That may target any sector. Pirates send sorties too.
The fabulous "Home" sector. Obviously, a bit more lucrative than the totally void Avarice in X3R. (There was so much "I paid for nothing" after the X3R Auction "miniplot" that X3TC ended up offering something "more".)ajax34i wrote:In X3TC, ... you could pick one as a reward for completing the plots, at which point it would get attached to the map for you.

It is obvious too that creating several sectors, but not making the available is a waste. Drop in some NPC, backstory and gate network, and the universe is again a bit larger.
Station build missions. Although random, they can add paying customers for the Trader.

You might want to check out Twisted Skies a bit more carefully before you claim they're a "dead end pocket".ajax34i wrote:...Xenon don't usually go there, though, because they're a dead end pocket and Xenon ships usually travel between the Xenon sectors....

Ahh, yes, the TC reward sectors. Each has been assigned a race and found to the east of Bluish Snout in AP:
Guiding Star - Argon
Spires of Elusion - Boron
Cathedral of Xaar - Paranid
and not to be forgotten, North of Zyarth's Stand:
Twisted Skies - Split (although far more populated with NPC than the others including a military outpost)
There's a lot of silicon in each of these sectors so this will be my industrial complex except Cathedral of Xaar which is a nice quiet corner I plan to lure the Paranid RRF team to supply me with ships
Check out the map in my sig to see how it all fits together (a bit of shameless self promotion there )
