New textures, glass and fix for Cockpits
New textures for Cockpits (PSCO1 Cockpit-Mod)
This week I started a project of retextured PSCO1 cockpits, originally only for personal use, but today I thought I'd share the first results of my work, and if someone likes it I can share the file
Some parts of the textures are still without painting but anyway I love textures bright with aluminum effect, so...

I have not tested every ship but I think that only 6 or 7 are fully retexturized and playable others are partially complete or even with the old textures.Eddy Cage wrote:Are there all ships???
Can I link your thread in the italian forum?
They look very great!
About then, can I make a You a question?
Thanks!
About the questions, Sure you can (comunque sono italiano anche io)
However I am now looking to fix ones already done why all the textures and normal-map are handmade. I'm also trying to make a realistic glass but half of what I edit with 3ds-Max isn't compatible with the game.

I'm working on AP but I think the textures are the same for TC, or not?Aldebaran_Prime wrote:WOW! - I wasn't a fan of cockpit mods until now - but with your mod this may change: Great work!
When do you will offer it as download for AP?
However I made a short video, sorry for the bad video editing

Re: New textures for Cockpits (PSCO1 Cockpit-Mod)
I love them and I think plenty of people have posted similar thoughts so... unless I missed a download link, can you post one? Thanks!swefan wrote:I thought I'd share the first results of my work, and if someone likes it I can share the file

IMPORTANT: This is a modification of "PSCO1-Cockpit-Mod for XRM" I have just redone the textures, and some small change in the models of cockpits.
This is the first version and is intended as a TEST version, some cockpit are completely revisited some not. (and I also broke something...) just try the ones that works
I had problems with the game engine, looks like it has problems with the texture too large, so I compressed textures from 500MB to 80MB but there are still some problems (to remedy just reload) I hope in the future I can use the textures without compression.
The version of the ps1co's cockpits mod that I have modified is from the mod XRM, then it will work only on mod XRM, and I'm playing with X3:AP but I think also work on X3:TC.
Although I reduced the size of the textures, at the maximum detail the game requires at least a GPU with 2GB of VRAM and a system with at least 6GB of RAM (based on my stats)
The installation must be done as any mod, IMPORTANT: I also changed Materials.pck adding 18 new textures to the game library, so it's important that this file is read by the game
the file is included in the pack but if it doesn't work (parts without texture) I also extracted a copy of the file so you can install it with X3-Editor.
Warning: I have also modified the models then the existing saves couldn't work.

the previous file was wrong, materials.pck wasn't installed

Wow!
I just wanted to drop by to thank you for starting this project. Not only are the cockpits now my preference for Terran ships, it also helped me figure out why my game kept crashing using PSCO1's mod during the Shady Business plot.
I really do hope you keep at it. What you've done looks amazing. Thanks again.

I tried signing this but now there's just a bunch of ink on my screen. Who do I sue to correct this?

Give it a shot anyway - the readme states this mod isn't compatible with anything other than XRM, but it's been working just fine for me in a largely-vanilla game (read: a few TRP scripts but no major overhauls running like LU or XRM).
Be aware of a bit of a loading time when the cockpit is first called. If the cockpit isn't showing when you load the game, hit SHIFT + H twice to refresh the HUD. It should start showing just fine. I personally recommend the M6 cockpit, but they're all very very nice.
This mod has inspired me to learn more about 3D modeling.
