NP Escort Can Follow its Captured Leader and Fight!

Post by Bill Huntington » Thu, 17. Mar 16, 14:25

I'm in AP vanilla. I've been giving my marines their final fight training. 11 are ready. Just 4 more!

So I snatched a Zeus in Empire's Edge that looked like it was well away from other ships. When the marines completed the capture, I jumped back in with the Hype, transferred JD and E, and jumped out my prize. A lot of Paranids were shooting at me but with strafe and Turbo I made it out alive. I thought so anyway. But a red Deimos and some red Perseus were in the sector I jumped too. Then the Deimos hit me and the Cobra with PSG. Where can you go when you're in the middle of a PSG tsunami?

Lucky I had good Save. I jumped to different Sector and the Deimos got me again. I checked his ID numbers. Yes, the same prefix as my captured prize. These ships were part of the Paranid escort. They followed the ship they were supposed to defend, then attacked me.

Finally I got smart and jumped my prize to Aladna with those big Laser Platforms. I had just put a Jump Beacon next to the Military Outpost. You'd think a red Paranid would get plenty of response from an Argon Laser Platform. Well, it didn't happen right away. Luckily I remembered things from this Forum. My Cobra still had plenty of Hammers on board and it was OOS combat. An instant hit with 2 x Hammer Barrage. I jumped over and finished the red Perseus.

Egosoft has certainly upgraded the fight that NP ships put up in AP. In TC the escort didn't follow the big ship. Now they do, at least this time. And M7Ms used to be easy targets. A snail-slow Teladi Gannet kicked my butt a while ago. I had to choose another target.

Have other pilots ran into upgraded NP fights? Tell us about it.

Not only they follow your newly capped ship, they wouldn't attack it even if they are red. That gave us possibility to perform a "blitz cap" which I did earlier. In short, if your target is heavily escorted, drop its shield as fast as possible and jump out as marines are about to enter the ship. After the cap your new ship will be surrounded by its previous escorts but won't be attacked at all.

They will continue to follow your ships for a while (~10min or so), I've never sold a newly capped m1 before but, will all those ships be added to the value? If so, a capped RRF m1 is gonna sell for a lot of money.

I'm in AP vanilla too.

To board enemy ship I must to find those ship first (in my game Boron, Argon, Split and Teladi are friends for race of player).

It must be something worth to board: Terran or ATF M1, M2 or M2+ ship (they have weapons for my ships Kyoto(s) and Osaka) or yet one Xenon I.

My pilot has rank of Conquer and very bad reputation among Terran.

Here is example of try to board Terran ship:

Hmm this must not be the case for all ships.

I'm up to 4 Valhallas and I've never seen their aegir/vidar escorts jump and follow when I send them off to my phq for outfitting.

Hi,

The problem is perhaps that your capship and perhaps others in the same sector have the other race set to Enemy, and depending on their configuration fire first on those red ships. Use the main command to set the race as Friend even before boarding has finished.
