Graphical glitches with 3D Shadowing

Post by Greyhawk1 » Mon, 29. Mar 04, 22:21

I've noticed this with many games (not just X2) that use this feature. Unfortunately most of the time the shadows are nothing more than flickering triangles over distant objects and very close up they display very glitchy.

They also flicker on and off a lot too. I think this may be either something awry with DX9 or the Catalyst drivers for my ATi Radeon 9800 Pro rather than a problem with X2 specifically.

If anybody has found a fix for this I'd like to know - cheers!

I run a 9800XT and I get a similar effect - not with the shadows but with the way ATI handles bumpmapping. E.G. Asteroids at a distance appear to have surfaces that "flicker"

I just updated my drivers for my GF4 440mx (bumpmapping) and I get the same problem but didnt with my old drivers. So it has to be a driver problem.
