Death announcements for persons of note

Dammit, what is it with B5 actors dying relatively young? 63 is no age at all.burger1 wrote:Stephen Furst died. Another Babylon 5 person.

Bah All I can say is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47DfQcHMYLY#t
I was never hugely into Babylon 5, but the two moments referenced in that clip have always stuck with me.

Three of my absolute favorite moments in television Science Fiction involved Stephen Furst as Vir Coto.
A sad moment indeed, I'm sure he could have excelled in another role yet. If he was that ill it may explain why he wasn't appearing in anything major, or nothing I saw. He certainly wasn't lacking in talent.

Furst was awesome. He played one of my favorite characters in Bab 5 and he did it wonderfully. Even better, his character matured and broke from the mold of a "fat yet benevolent fool" into one that was strong and principled. A sort of moral conscience for Londo and a perfect role for such a talented actor.
RIP Stephen Furst and thanks for the memories. Godspeed.

I hope the toys, Big Ted, Little Ted, Jemima, Humpty and Poppy, will be in attendance at the memorial service.Redvers Ganderpoke wrote:Brian Cant 83, anyone in the UK of a certain age will know him for Play School, Play Away , Camberwick Green, Trumpton and Chigley.

Apparently Poppy replaced Hamble in 1986 to make the doll line-up more diverse, and because the Hamble doll was beginning to fall apart. Although I think that happened after Brian Cant left...CBJ wrote: Wait, what? Who the heck is Poppy? I mean, I never liked Hamble much but just pretending she never existed is harsh.

Interesting how the toys all have the same name as their Australian equivalents!
(Hamble apparently fell apart during the 1980s, and Big Ted and Humpty were both replaced by commercially-available replicas! ).

She arrived many years after I stopped watching, but they are the ones at the "National Science and Media Museum".CBJ wrote:Wait, what? Who the heck is Poppy?Terre wrote:...and Poppy,...

People of a certain age will remember Grotbags the Witch from Rod Hull's programmes in the 70s and 80s--the actress who played her, Carol Lee Scott, has died:
