X3TC Linux/SteamOS experience

Post by KMcr » Sat, 21. Jan 17, 20:29

As the subject says, does anyone here run this under Linux/SteamOS? I did try under OpenSuse, but experienced hard lockups within about 10 minutes of playing. Might be because of my choice of distro/desktop (xfce). I've got 250GB SSD with Win10 that desperately wants to be a 'nix gaming disk :D

i think you should clarify which version you are trying to run under linux.

=> Windows Version via Wine and Derivates
=> Linux Version published via Steam (port is by EGO)
=> and maybe there was a Linux Version by LGP or another linux publisher/porter - not entirely sure about that one though
if not stated otherwise everything i post is licensed under WTFPL

Ich mache keine S&M-Auftragsarbeiten, aber wenn es fragen gibt wie man etwas umsetzen kann helfe ich gerne weiter ;)

I wont do Script&Mod Request work, but if there are questions how to do something i will GLaDly help ;)

UniTrader: Sorry, I meant the steam release. I didn't know there were others.

Mazz: Thanks for the info. That makes me think SteamOS is the way to go.

Cheers

Runs also nicely, without any crash, on a Linux Mint 18 (Debian based).
I also have some proprietary AMD Drivers (AMD HD7950) installed.

And i also run the newest (Installed 2 days ago) Steam version.

Over 600 hours logged on Debian and that's all played time - not using SETA or leaving game on overnight.
