Steam Summer sale 2017
Sale runs from June 22nd - July 5th. This year's deals will remain at the same price for the entire sale. You should be safe to buy a game at any discount as it'll be that price for the entire sale. - according to reddit
Yeah, the Steam site was completely dead when I tried to get on it an hour ago. Seems to be back up now, but you'd think Valve would consider that their website is likely to be hit hard in the first few hours of a sale!
[EDIT] Actually, I tell a lie--it's still not working properly. You can't search for anything (always get either an error or no results), and the selection of games on the front page is absolute garbage. I'll probably have to check it out tomorrow to go through my wishlist and see what's cheap.

My Steam OS refuses to even log in - I think there is a sever outrage in the UKpjknibbs wrote:Yeah, the Steam site was completely dead when I tried to get on it an hour ago. Picked up Dishonored 2 for 50% off, which I've been meaning to play since it came out. Website's still misbehaving, so I haven't been through the deals beyond that.

OK, I managed to log on (by doing it at 6am this morning) and purchased:
Shadow of Mordor GOTY edition for £3.19--I already have the base game, but I want to play through again with all the DLC before I get to the sequel, and it was cheaper to buy the GOTY on sale than to buy the GOTY upgrade.
Total War: Warhammer (£13.60)--never played a Total War game before but been watching some Youtube videos of it and want to give it a try. Knew it would be quite cheap because the second game is due soon.
Sniper Elite 4 Deluxe Edition (£32-odd)--this has been on my list since it came out, and since I can get the game with all the DLC for less money than the game alone cost before the sale, I thought it was time to get it. Installing it now, will play tonight.
That will be all I get in this year's sales--there were some other items on my wishlist that were on sale, but I already have plenty of games to get through and I don't want to go overboard.

Ooooh, I want that!pjknibbs wrote: Total War: Warhammer (£13.60)--never played a Total War game before but been watching some Youtube videos of it and want to give it a try. Knew it would be quite cheap because the second game is due soon.
Don't know when I will ever get a chance to play it, but I want it.
Found this email in my inbox last night:
42 items from your Steam wishlist are on sale!
Sheesh!

Hell, I'm pretty sure there are games in my Steam library that I bought on impulse in sales years ago and still haven't played. This is why I'm being more discerning and only buying stuff that I've already done some research into--I have a piece of paper with a list of "titles of interest" on it, and I'm only buying stuff that's on that list.CBJ wrote:There were "only" 18 items from my wishlist. I've now bought a few of the cheapest ones; 6 games for an average of less than £5 each isn't bad going. As with Jericho, however, I've no idea when I'll get a chance to play any of them.

I'm holding off on buying anything till nearer the end of the sale (assuming I do buy anything), as all the other (legitimate) websites tend to schedule their sales for the same time as Steam, so there are fairly decent odds of getting some games at better prices.
... That and like most people it seems, I have far too many games I've yet to play anyway so if I miss out, well it's no great loss.

I second that. Deals aren't that good, meh actually and there are no flash sales :/Golden_Gonads wrote:I'm holding off on buying anything till nearer the end of the sale (assuming I do buy anything), as all the other (legitimate) websites tend to schedule their sales for the same time as Steam, so there are fairly decent odds of getting some games at better prices.

What kind of deal is -50% at 9.99E on new Wolfenstein if two weeks ago Wolfie was for 7.45E with -75% price drop...
Speaking about purchases on Steam I plan to buy these... GTA V, XCOM2, Doom, Mad Max and that is it, still have some titles to play from winter sale and last year summer sale
Elite Dangerous| I survived the Dragon Incident ... then I took an arrow to the knee

There never will be any flash sales since they introduced refunds, because all that would happen is that anyone who bought the game at the higher price will refund it and buy the cheaper version (and yes, this is a legitimate usage of the refund system according to Valve themselves).Sorkvild wrote: I second that. I bought a single game "reassembly" and managed to kind of beat it. Other than this, there werent any interesting deals on my wishlist items. Boring sale. The thrill from the early days is sadly gone.
