I hate you. I just want you to know this.

... My paperclip factory has churned out around 250,000 paperclips in the past 45 minutes or so, whilst I had better things to do that remain undone.

(One the plus side, it's up to levels of automation now that I intend to ignore it and try and salvage whats left of the day).

i only sent 1k of them actually.. but make them self-replicating and keep an eye on their amount - it should constantly increase... (had a decillion of them in the end)
if it doesnt do these:
=> assign more resources to self-replication
=> build more Factories and drones (increase the priority only for a moment, that should be enough for a few hours - no need to constantly build them)
=> Increase Exploration

this should fix it..

Santi: I hate you. On the plus side, I never have to play that game again. It didn't help that due to some memory leak or somesuch, it ran at about 5% of its speed for much of my time. I gave up, closed and reopened, and lo and behold I could carry on at full speed! .... I'm not sure if that's a good thing.

Apologies for tasks being undone but I did put it on the title of the topic about "nothing better to do". Anyway I really enjoyed it, I am done now, and I cleared the cache but not launching the game again...oh nooooo. I know better now.

But I know I can be a more efficient paperclip maker AI and will give it a go again to beat my time.

I... Started a new game (I'm a weak, weak man). Though I intend on remaining a Paperclip/Stockmarket entrepreneur as opposed to dismantling the universe.

Currently I have 1.1 billion paperclips, a 6.7 Billion Dollar marketing bill and megaclippers cost in excess of a quarter billion each. On the plus side I'm making just over a quarter million paperclips a second and earning just shy of $200,000 a second (Though theres a lot of loss there, as I'm selling slightly more than I make right now and charging over a dollar a clip... Tax? Or thieving scoundrels after me paperclips?). Oh - And the stockmarket has pulled in around 14 billion dollars... Though it seems to be a little broken, as it'll only invest around 150 million at a time...

As well as running that silly game, I gave my desk a good clean over the weekend. A small collection of paperclips which had been sitting in a desk-tidy for years, minding their own business, were summarily disposed of... just in case.
