Nothing, I would prefer something like crowdfunding X4 foundations, allowing them to develop a bit more the game.

X4 is built on the Rebirth Engine.
It's enjoyable to play if you're not expecting everything on a gold plate.

Me pre-ordering is akin to me buying the programmers some pizza.
I'd buy them pizza if I got a game in the end, hell.. I'd buy them a pizza just to do it and hope for the possibility to have a really fun conversation and learned what idea's they have farmed currently in the game.

Other then that, ya.. Maybe a small discount / Beta testing ( DEMO ) copy of what's currently in game with the big words ( BETA DEMO ) in the corner so people won't be taken by surprise the game crash's because it's a BETA that CRASH's!

No to exclusive stuff! That's one of the worst things preorders do, cutting off content for early adopters.

Pre-order discounts are pretty harmless though, if they HAVE to have an incentive. Still wary after Rebirth though. Never got past the first few missions, after spending so much time in the other games.
