Totally agree. Lots would love to be, at some point you decide, "part of the decision" of some détails. Everything in X Games is in details! XR could be a GREAT X but miss a bit of details... you see what I mean?!Killjaeden wrote:You say you wouldnt want to bore people with talking about little details on X4 development -> I think many people would actually be interested in that, and to me it seems like most people that are currently following X4 development are long time fans who would dig that.
Maybe a shorter format - 5-10min or so just "random details from X4 development" voice recording. It doesn't have to be good or relevant visual footage, it can be just a concept art piece - the information is what is the most interesting thing currently anyway.

Great stream guys... awesome bail out reaction time!
Completely agree with Killjaeden, we could never be bored with little bits of information on X4. Any information is better than no information.

The main thing is them finding time, like you say They don't have any employees dedicated to online media/social announcements so they rely on things like this stream which was done by a couple of their employees on their own time after-hours (most probably unpaid).
Most of us don't like doing unpaid work even if we do love the company we work for, so cut them some slack and let them get on with actually making the game lol

"... in which they update us on the news, the problems they encounter during development, the technical details, and all these things?"
That seems to cover just about everything that the dev team collectively would have been doing (apart from eating pizza) ...
Remember that many of the devs are specialists in their own particular field and so one dev finding the time to make a news release does not mean that all the others can simultaneously find the time to update that one to give a comprehensive picture of overall progress. I think it's probably best to let the management team decide when and how to make a concerted team effort to give a 'more polished' progress update. Just my opinion though.

I know, but now they are indie dev, they need to create regular content for the community, it's sort of marketing. If you look at successful indie game, they all do regular content (like tweet thing every days, made streams, blog news ...).Vandragorax wrote:The main thing is them finding time, like you say
You can find some GDC video who explain the benefits of doing regular content, and why you don't sold a lot of games if you don't do it.

Yeah it's about creating some excitement and "hype" for your game, but they got burned pretty bad on Rebirth with that last time. I think they are just being very careful, while they are still in the late stages of development, not to say or show anything that might not make it into the final build at release. Which is a wise move honestly.thesus1 wrote:I know, but now they are indie dev, they need to create regular content for the community, it's sort of marketing. I'm sure they will start ramping up the hype machine as we near whatever release date they have planned, maybe the last 6 months when they are adding polish etc. then we'll start to get some real steady stream of news
