horizontal lens flare in X4
It seems to me that, after watching the Gamescom video, that the lens flare effect, ie the horizontal line emanating from almost any light source, be it explosion or engines or other lights, is over done. It can be a bit distracting at times. Especially the blinking running lights on ships and stations.
That being said, if it is the only fault I end up finding with the game, I'll be happy! But it does seem, to me at least, like something that perhaps ought to be toned down a bit.

Ive complained about that too, no reply from devs yet if its staying or changing as for me personally i dont like it its too overdone especially on that new vid where the red ship blows up. X rebirth looked better in that regards with no lens flare or very very little. I remember x2 during dev had a overdone lens flare and told em, i think it was reduced by time game came out. Reminds me too much of star trek 2009 where JJ overused lensflare and most people complained about it. Imo the game would be best without it.

Didn't see any problem with it.
I liked how the Capital Ship blew up and drifted in the direction it was going as a chunk of space debris.
As for the bright light, there shouldn't be a greater intensity, I'm sure i've heard Neil Degrasse Tyson talk about there being a minimal increase of light, barely 3% once you leave Earth's atmosphere.

The "lensflare" is actually our "bloom" effect and can be simply disabled in the GFX settings, if you dont like it.
