hay i dont know if this is a con or a game errror but can anyone tell me if you can win the lottery or dose it just take your money or something because i have paid loads of money on those things and have won nothing so please

is the lottery a con
or
is the lottery an error
or
do you win the lottery but the chances are low like 1/100 or something :!: :?: :evil: :? :o

i think the official word is the lottery is winnable with about the same chances as winning the real lottery

Well I've stopped buying lottery tickets, but I've heard people who have bought thousands of tickets without winning. I don't think you can win, or the chance of winning is more like 1 in a million like in real life... :)

I think the odds are even higher.
So , just a waste of money.

I would prefer if they would lower the win and the chance so that you actually win from time to time, even if its justa million or so......

If you do win, your game is pretty much ruined. Unlimited money = nothing more to do except go to war with everyone.

The lottery is tax for people that dont understand probability :P :) Go cap some ships instead.

The Chances aren't at all like in real life. They're a *lot* worse. Take out your calculator and check it, the chance to get 6 out of 99 right is absurdely low. I suppose it's much more likely to just start the game and have a few million starting credits due to a weird bug or lightning strike.

Its probably how the game makes money to buy and sell stuff, and thats the real reason why the economy is so (apparently) poor, cos people stop buying the tickets after a while :lol: :o

Just a suggestion:

It would be nice to actually win smaller prizes like in some real life lotteries. A few hundred grand would be a nice boost in the game and even make me buy the damn things again.

Yes, smaller prizes of a few tens of thousands would be good, average cost is 2500 really I found per ticket so maybe 1 in 10 chance of winning 10k, 1 in 30 chance winning 50k, 1 in 50 chance winning 100k, 1 in 100 chance winning 500k and the same as now (1 in 500 billion!) chance of winning the jackpot!

Lottery tickets bought 87..thats around 200k thrown away, not a jackpot in sight. :(

Has anyone tried to look at the "Last Winning Numbers" in the spot where you buy the tickets and then load a saved game from just before that and try to find those numbers?

OK, having way too much time on my hand an an idea of how to calculate odds, I firmly believe the lottery is winnable.

If this had the same odds as the real lottery (6 numbers from 01-49) you would have a 1/13,983,816

Picking 10 numbers from 01-99 rockets these already unlikely odds to 1/15,579,278,510,796

So there you go, the lottery IS winnable, its just that statistically, you have 0.00000000000006418 % chance of doing it.

You have more chance of winning the regular lottery, being struck by lightning (twice) on your way to collect your winnings, then discovering that Claudia Schifer is your nurse, went to the same primary school as you and now wants to marry you. If you think this is likely, will you play poker with me?
