Ye ha - I have completed the story! **SPOILERS UNMARKED**
Ok this is the third time I have put spoilers in the title so if people don't get the idea... *SHRUG*
***********************************************
FINAL WARNING :
DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE STORY IN ADVANCE
***********************************************
Ok everyone has been warned
I jumped to the Khaak sector in my Dragon, found the Black box, collected it and jumped back. Wow, that was too easy, I guess the extra 80-100m/s was too much for the poor little Khaak.
I stripped the loaned Hydra (left the computer upgrades, SETA, boost extension, and 5MW shield in lieu of the 125MW shields) and renamed it "Bite Mi Ton" That annoying teladi-split-paranid hybrid of bpron complained about the state of his ship (what right did he have to complain??? I did not even touch the Hull and left him with some shields ). Anyway, just left in my harrier to go back to my Dragon and Argon prime when I get a call about the assault on Omicon Lyrae, ok I tell Bret and Saya I would meet them there and jumped my Hercules and Dragon to East Gate of Nyana's Hideout. Switched to my Uber Perseus and went through to Omicron Lyrae.
The Omicron Lyrae mission is a real doozy, beating the hell out of the Khaak fighters was easier than Ore Belt thanks to Bret and Saya being my wing-people and the Uber Perseus being fast enough anyway (14 engine tunings giving about 260m/s top speed) The real problem with this mission is getting into position. Luckily I saved before I was supposed to move into position both the first and the second time. The problem with this is actually getting at the point, the lasers were easy to dodge (without straffing) but those rotating bits that rotate over where you are supposed to get to are a real b*****d.
Anyway, after getting daddy dearest out and receiving the order to mop up the remaining khaak, I called in the Dragon so I could switch to it and the Iguana to pick up the missiles that had been dropped during the fight. No problems, mopped em up starting with the M3s then M4s and finally M5s. Killed a couple of Xenon and Pirates passing through, deployed a new sattelite in lieu of that destroyed by the Khaak and jumped back to Argon Prime. Attended the funeral, watched the credits, read Brets last message to me and....
Now I thought it is time to try and get the the data for the Khaak ships/weapons/sectors that I have been hearing so much about...
Ok where do I get the info from??? Not the Argon Equipment Dock in Argon Prime, I have checked there. Is it random or does it only appear once certain conditions have been met?

I, too, just completed the storyline......shrug.......I have a number of questions....
1) What do the races do about the Khaak
2) What happened to Brennan
3) Why dont the Khaak invade system by system, noone could stop them
4) Why dont the races jump into the Khaak sectors one by one and eliminate the Threat
5) X2 The Threat should possibly be renamedto X2 The Annoyance, They dont pose too much of a threat
Sorry, but I had to see for myself where the story went, and I shouldnt have wasted my time on "Nowhere". Now I see why others were saying what they said about the storyline.

I also finished the story last night. My thoughts on your questions
1) same thing they did about the Xenon. Leave them be for now, fight them if they jump in.
2) Do you mean what did the Khaak do to him or what happened to him at the end of the story? I guess he was being used by the Khaak in the same way the Borg tried to use Picard in Star Trek:NG. Or something like that. In the end he is still in a coma and the best doctors in the X universe are still trying to get him out of it.
3) Well, they could, but wouldn't leave much of a story, would it? Perhaps they are spread thin trying to wipe out other races as well, or perhaps they just don't think the same as we do. Political in fighting? Internal strife over what sector should be next? Who knows.
4) Same reason they don't do the same to the Xenon. Wouldn't leave much story. Also, on a practical side, would still take loads of resources. And with the Khaak, are those really all of their sectors? 5 sectors would seem a pretty small universe for a race so powerful.
5) Apparently this is to be fixed in 1.4. And may be further mended in the coming expansion. Be careful what you ask for.

Be seeing you...
Hmmm. Finished aswell, and wondering where the rest of the story is.
I liked the way the storyline was padded with you having to progress your status and cash in the universe. So between each stage you had to participate in just doing X-Universe stuff in between each story segment. Though it is disappointing that the thing they were padding was so x-tremely thin.
Sigh.

So hearing your guys talk about finishing the main story realy does not inspire me to complete the story line, I'm on the annoying ore belt mission and have done wat alot of other poeple have done and set up mine's there and scanned about 85% of the roids b4 knowing about the story line grrr.
And now i can't b bothered to rescan them all.
anyway im happy just playing the game and building a empire and as i've not realy seen any point in finnishing the story line i don't intend to.

I think that mission generates new asteroid for you to scan - it's not one of the regular ones, so you won't have to re-scan them. In my game it was in sensor-obscuring nebula and wasn't even visible on the sector map

I now have the five Khaak sectors and am building up rep to gain the security clearance from the Argons for the Khaak ship/weapon data
I also almost have enough cash for my 4th M6 (a Teladi Osprey this time). Then it will be time to save for a Boron Hydra to complete my M6 collection
57% Trusted Friend and rising ... not long now

It's the same as killing any other race ship - it's roughly 3% penalty per ship while in 3rd highest rank range and around 14% bonus for your target. You can also capture escorts, but usually you'll still get minor penalty because of shooting at them.koan wrote:So does killing the escorts lower your stats somehow?x2alien wrote:A single assassination mission without killing escorts and you'll be right thereRoger L.S. Woo hoo... 61% Argon Trusted Friend! ... and a Teladi Osprey with max HEPTS fitteed but only TWO 125MW shields (booo..).
I saved the game last night prior to taking the Opsrey for a Test Drive. I must say that the Osprey handles extremely well and I can understand how some people could consider it a cheat ship. I must admit though, despite the slow speed of the Osprey I may be lured out of my Dragon for this ship. The Nemesis is ok, but does not handle well (too slow on the turns/rolls for my liking). Will have to take the centaur out to play for a real comparison.

There IS no comparison. The Centaur turns like a dead slug and simply can't match the Osprey for sheer brute force; its only advantage is its higher top speed (207 compared to 174), but if you're worried about speed you'd get a Dragon anyway!Roger L.S.
