UFOs more common?
Back in 1.3 i had about 30 factories, 2 M6's, 1 TL, and about 20 M3's. In that game i saw the UFO maybe 3 times. I restarted when 1.4 was released and ive already seen the ship 5 times!

Probably Argon spies who stole a UFO ship so that they could infiltrate a Secret UFO base, but you killed them. They probably worked for the Goners, so when you killed the spies you got lower ranking I haven't seen any UFO in my game .PhantomGuy wrote:Just found one. Shot it down... Net result: comm from UFO saying: AAARGGHH (an argon voice!!!) and loss of reputation with the Goners...

You do know that it's not a UFO at all, it is the new experimantal jump drive ship that the Goner's are building. There are rumous of it all over the BBS boards in Argon space.
As far as I can gather, the new hyper-efficient jump drive they are building work by keeping it in an 'always on' state, powered directly by the ship power core. The desired result was to create a drive that could jump using fewer (or even no) e-Cells. However, this lead to a few unexpected side effects.
As we know, the Boron have discovered a way to measure the negative meuon and tahcion emmissions that are indicative of jump gates. What was not suspected before was that these emmissions can lead to a sub-particle 'flow' between any two permanent gates.
When the poor Goner test pilot powered up his jump drive to just an erg below the event horizon, the drive and it surrounding energy feild got 'sucked' into this stream. So now the poor fellow is caught like a leaf in a river, being pulled from gate to gate unable to escape the whims of sub-quantum mechanics and without any conventional drive mechanism to pull himself back into normal space. (it was a prototype craft, the normal system drive and thrusters haden't been fitted yet)
The incomplete ships systems and the distortion effects of the sub-critical jump field are why, if you are ever fortunate enough to get close enough, when you try to scan this ship your own ship computer can not recognoise the configuration and returns unknown (i.e. ???) values.
The rest of the Goner fleet have been dispatched to search for the lost pilot and ship, which is why you will see Gonor ships scouring all cornors of the universe, even risking entering unknown and unsecured sectors in their hunt. 'Spreading the word' is just a cover story. You will notice that they do not dock anywhere and spend no time in theological debate, so urgent is their search.
As to the current whereabouts of the pilot and his physical condition after prolonged exposure to such strange and poweful energies, this is the only mystery left.
