No because my high spec pc is busted for the mo and I can not play x2.
LOL, actually at the game stage that I was at before it busted meant I was killing ships much bigger than the MD would really do quick enough.
I do sell the ammunition from a fab almost continously though.

The thing is...there is no thing.

I use it in fighters that can take the weapon but not the other specialist weapons.
An example is my Buster, which can go up against a lone Khaak M3 with twin MDs fitted.
The point of the MD is that it is rapid-fire, high velocity (borders on being an instant hit weapon as a result) and delivers damage irrespective of shielding.
It is something of a folly to use it against cap ships unless you have a particular purpose in mind but it is a useful weapon for those ships that can take it.

Arms, my only ornament; my only rest, the fight. ~ Don Quixote, Cervantes
On my last assassin mission I tore 5 Nemesis corvettes apart with a Mamba equipped with Mass drivers. Used about 150 crates of ammo and pocketed 6.7 million credits. Heh heh heh.

In the past I haven't used them, not enough damage done for my tastes. But with the advent of 1.4 I was gonna put some on a Dragon and see if they're any good for Khaak Capping, the usual IonD trick doesn't seem to work.

After seeing posts praising the massdriver I thought it time to try it for myself.
Shot speed was impressive as was the ability to shoot through shields but the fact of requiring cargo space to hold the ammo and the need to continually restock (when I say continually - I mean occasionally) meant that I had to consider these extra requirements. If I use a Bhept (for example) then once installed it will work forever without any further effort from me (ignoring collision/combat damage).
There again, I'm usually fighting to capture and a massdriver cannot do a better job than an Ion and Bpac. (My opinion only... I know some of you will probably disagree).
As suggested in this thread, I might revisit the massdriver for wingmen/support ships. I can see them being of use where the target has huge shielding which is difficult to eliminate before hull damage can be scored. I'm not quite yet at a point where I wish to take on ships with the intention of destroying them (BBS jobs).

Awesome weapon. My Mamba and my Scorpion both carry them. I used it pick apart 3 Hydras in my second 1.4 assassination mission.
I was lucky enough o find a place that had 400 ammo in stock, so I bought the lot. That'll keep me going for a while.

I've just restarted so they're easily the most powerful weapon my now kitted out disco can mount. Trying to take out the shields of a ship is a real bugger in an M5.
I used them in my old game to take out the fast khaah M5s - normal weapons didn't really do very well against them.

...
But i do use it against M6s to rip them to shreds..

Ahhh, I remember now - I THOUGHT it'd make a good weapon, and as I'd picked up a bunch of MD ammo in secret containers I bought a couple. Then found I couldn't mount them.
Dammit.
They would be a good weapon for them tho
And they were still good for taking out Khaak M5s with UBER speed, so I saved them for later

After reading some of the posts and thinking about it...I'm going to retry massdrivers for a support ship. I have a spare nova with bhepts and I can add some massdrivers (assuming I can find the ammo!) and give it another try. I might even buy a buster to add to the team when running assassination missions. My last battle was with 4 top quality novas and although I killed them all (they wouldn't surrender!) it was a bit of a struggle on my own.
Perhaps a wingman or two might make it a bit easier/safer...and I've yet to reach the stage where I face an M6 or 5...

I use them exclusively on capture attempts. Mass Driver the hull to 87%, switch weapons to a weak laser and sit back.
I also use it in Nova turrets since it can dissuade an enemy from an attack run and its almost instant hit so its useful against missiles.
I usually have a Centaur armed with a Mass Driver in at least one turret which I put on missile defence.
