I was returning from the Xenon sectors far to the NE, and while in Shareholder's Fortune, I saw my first UFO in 40 game-days of play.

yup they are small, If you have an M2 or M1 then lower shields and open cargo doors and if you can catch it, catch it in your cargo hold.
