Mass-releasing space flies?

Post by mattyd » Sat, 31. Jul 04, 03:35

Is it possible to stockpile huge numbers of space flies (like, tens of thousands) in a TL and then just release them all at once? I'm not actually insane enough to attempt this, but I was wondering if any really bored X2'ers had some screenshots of it :)

(Btw, is there a max number of spaceflies displayed at a time, or can you really drop thousands of the buggers without crashing the game?)

It might be possible, but it'd sure slow up your game a bit. Though it may illuminate Loomanckenstrat's Legacy.
System:
AMD Athlon 64 3700+
Sound Blaster Audigy
Geforce 6800 GS
A8N-E Motherboard
2GB DDR RAM

The only reply I can summon is:

It takes me about 5 minutes to catch 10-15 spaceflies. Soooooo...
to catch 10 to 15 thousand would take about 5000 minutes. Not to mention the time to find a group.

5000 minutes=83 hours, 20 minutes!

I dont think anyone has/will spend 83 hours on spacefly hunting.

Put down the crack pipe, and back away :P

The army of flies. Those things are about 3 times the size of a person too.... :o Scary thought.

Nice dark system like Loomanck's, sitting in a quiet turret, a couple of flutes of space fuel, dinner and a loverly woman, with P'trik M'ore playinghttp://www.danosislandsounds.com/music/ ... clocks.mp3 in the background and after the first couple of bars you open your Oddi cargo doors and let the flys out.......In this system, with these pants on, just a man and a woman, oh you devil!

I just thought of something. Get a swarm of them (100 or so), get a missile locked on you, then dump the flies. Living Chaf. :D

IIRC the Mammoth has the largest cargo bay, 21000. Spacefly volume=5. 21000/5=4200. So the max you could drop ate once is 4200. this might kill you tho, as you would have no shields.

I dont think you would see your own death. 4200 units instantly popping up would kill your computer ;p.

If you release the spacefly in space, it will only contain a canister with a number of space fly onboard. Nothing more. Just like when you dump E-cels or missles.

DZorro,
Er, nope. If you release spaceflies they fly off!

You can buy spaceflies at some pirate bases, and of course some appear in secret containers, so it wouldn't take as long as you think to fill up with the glowy little buggers
