Spacefly collector question

I've been considering getting a spacefly collector for my ship but i'm not sure if it's illegal to have a collector or is it only illegal if i actually capture anything with it?

It's legal to have the equipment and some races don't consider the spacefly cargo illegal.

Edit:
Make sure you have an Ion D installed on the ship. This stuns em so you can capture em.

Ah well. I was just thinking about trying something illegal thats all.

Not sure i can be botehered though.

I may try trading in slaves instead then.

you would need ION distruptor, when you see flies, fire at them w/ ION. They will be stunned, you fly toward one, press O to open your cargo bay. It will become object once it enter your cargo bay. Keep firing Ion to stun as many as you can so they dont disappear to other places.
