Was there ever a final conclusion to the UFO scandal?

After spending a coulple of hours reading through a load of UFO posts, most of them full of people taking the mickey, I would like to know what was the final decision arrived about them.

Everyone seems to agree that the UFOs actually exist but did anyone ever post definitive proof about the UFO stations? Did anyone from Egosoft totally deny the rumour? What happened in the end?

i saw an in game ufo it was tiny round with a half ball on the top (you know classic UFO shape) and took no damge from any weapons. if i see it again i will get a screen shot. also it appears as unknown object on the map???

i don't know what it was but it was wierd and kinda cool.

UFOs are in the game. UFO base is not.

UFOs are destroyable, as I killed one. (

I think that the existence of the actual U.F.O.'s can't be argued, but, what about the stations? was there ever a consistent amount of sighting or was it all a load of rubbish. Subjective answer don't count, I'm talking about proof.

On UFO bases :

No-one has ever proven that they have seen it and no-one has ever definitively stated that it does not exist.

However given that the new bases included with the patrol script were found within a couple of weeks and no-one has found the UFO base since the game was published I would conclude that looking for it is a total waste of time unless you are a rabid UFO hunter.

The UFO is part of a huge Mad Goner conspiracy, but there are still a lot of Goner ships flying around to do a cover up.
Why do you think the ufo has a Goner symbol at the gravidar and you lose relation with the Goners if you destroy them?

the only way to settle this is to send ships with the triplex scanners into every sector and moniter the UFO'S were they disappear there could be a base
