TPs and Sector Patrols

Post by shinobu » Wed, 23. Mar 05, 20:01

Can TPs be made to do sector patrols? I've noticed that the "sector patrol" commands present in the Combat menu in warships are missing in the TP menus. Is there something I can buy at some station to add sector patroling to the TP combat menu? (I was thinking that they would be used as unarmed recon ships...)

TP's can be made to do sector patrols, if they have the 'fight' software installed. I wouldn't recommend it tho :)

You shouldnt really buy combat software for TS's and TP's if they're running freight as they won't keep heading to their target, they'll stop to fight, whether or not they have weapons when attacked. Bad news.

Any ship with combat software I and II can be assigned to sector patrols under the 'combat' section.

Not true. Only M6's, M1's and M2's can run the sector patrol software. There is an unsigned script, which the patrol script was based on, that allows other ships to be sector patrollers, but ships smaller than M6's can only be used as escorts with the signed patrol script.
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

X4 is a journey, not a destination. Have fun on your travels.

What he said.

Iguana's make nice escorts for almost any M6.
Be seeing you,

Ahh ok. I've never even tried using patrolling on anything less than an M6 with the signed script anyway simply due to smaller vessels' weaknesses. Tried other ships with the unsigned in the past, but never worked out well. Guess I got the two scripts mixed. Good call.

EDIT: Was re-thinking what you said, because something was nagging me about what I had read in the past on the signed script, and decided to check up and found the manual for the patrol scripts rather confusing. It says that for multi-sector patrols the ships can only be M6+. However for single sector patrol, there's nothing mentioned. Plus, there's a cost per hour listing for TP and TS classes. Knew there was something to it. The manual needs to be updated.
