Ship classifications (M0-M6)
Everywhere I read posts where the corvette is simply added as the M6 class ship.
But if I'm not mistaken, wasn't the list supposed to look like this ?
M0 - Supercarrier
M1 - Carrier
M2 - Destroyer
M3 - Corvette
M4 - Heavy fighter
M5 - Medium fighter
M6 - Light fighter
So basically, from big to small. All fighter classes going one up.
It would be more right this way I think anyway. Could be a slight bit confusing at first, but we'd get used to it quick enough.

Unfortunately Egosoft didn't include any "gaps" in their numbering to allow for extra ships, and as far as I know they're sticking with the existing designations as far as possible, so the others are correct: M6 is corvette class. Doesn't fit, really, but the only alternative would be to drop the M-class designations completely and come up with a more flexible system, which Egosoft don't seem to have done.

The "M" I'm guessing stands for "Military".
Mx = Military, sizes 0 .. 5 ranked largest .. smallest, extended or interleaved sizes 6+.
Ta = Transport, size L or S.
Ia = Intermediate (scout, shuttle, etc.), size L or S. (The only I-class I've ever seen is the Xenon pirate freighter. Goner ships aren't designated I-class but probably should be.)
Try these for Xenon designations: Xenon L = Large, Xenon M = Medium, and Xenon N = Nit. (Actually for some strange reason I think of it as "Not", as in "Not quite big enough to be a medium". Large, Medium, and Not. Go figure.)

Well, for the Xenon ships, I stick with Stone-D's XTPatch2.1 designations...Aye Capn wrote:Try these for Xenon designations: Xenon L = Large, Xenon M = Medium, and Xenon N = Nit. Code: Select all
XM0 = Xenon Harbinger
XM1 = Xenon Nyarlathotep
XM2 = Xenon Deviant
XM3 = Xenon Ravisher
XM4 = Xenon Guardian
XM5 = Xenon Dervish
XTS = Xenon Bael (Bhaal?)
XTL = Xenon Cthulhu
