Finger trouble using my Mobile Drilling System

A question, how do you use a mobile drilling system thingumy?

I was at the point of destroying the secret khaak roid base in Ore Belt last night and had to either use a hornet missile, (which I did in the end), or a mobile drilling sys to destroy the roid.

I has the MDS but couldn't attach it to any laser port on any of my ships. I tried deploying it by ejecting it but that didn't seem to work either.

Do I not have the right ship or am I not doing something else right?

Anyone know of a good guide to mobile drilling, I've seen one somewhere but can't remember where.

MDS can fit in some TS (Vulture in back turret and Caiman in main) and some TL class ship. If you don't have any of those ships use Hornet missiles.
