Whats the biggest Fighter drone swarm you've seen or used? I've used 38 (so far)

whats the specs of your pc?

I asked a another fellow FACTS member to try taken out a X Sector with a ton of Dropnes from a mammoth.

When he released them he got a CTD because there was soo many.

But he does have a crap pc

I was thinking of doing that! Something like out of the Matrix, with thousands upon thousands of Sentinels in one massive serpentine pillar of doom!

If you could set them as wingmen then you could actually do that but i doubt my pc(or anyones for that matter) could handle it if you had tousands of the little beggers.

7000 fighter drones is one hell of a sight. it looks like a swarm of millions of flys speeding off into battle.

Launching fighter drones in huge numbers is not to be recommended (unless you fancy just the view of it).

They have a limited lifespan (IIRC about 3 min.) and no shields which means that during the mass launch you will lose many due to collisions.

a way to reduce that would be to launch in smaller numbers ie 100 at a time wait 10 seconds then another wave ect
although if you had multiple launcher ships you could forget the wait.

just imagin taking down a khaak sector with them [ external image ]

You know, they should have a different variant of the fighter drone that has a single 1 meg sheild and 2 AIREs, and a little mor ehul, plus 5x the cost or something. That way, you really could have an army of little destroyers, and if you had enough creds, you could do it en masse, with just as many as the original fighter drones... how cool would that be?!

Well, i thought collision was turned off on FDs, i have seen some fly through my mammoth

(yagos, it was there putting down loops while i was fighting, and it got close).

But of course, i have never bothered with them exept on TSs.

Hey, can I have one of those 160x DVD drives?

The thing I'm still waiting to do is to mass launch some peggys in a Xenon sector, the engine trails should be pretty to watch if nothing else. My pc should be able to handle it as well, I'm just lacking the virtual (ie a carrier and enough cash) resources to do it.

. You can shop around for one, but it will set you back a couple of hundred quid, unlike most 80x or 40x, which cost anywhere from a fiver to 90 quid.
