Firefly: Serenity

Has anyone thought of adding Firefly class TS to the game? I am thinking it would have no weapons, be above average in speed and have above average cargo say upgradable to 3200. This is above my abilities as of yet but was wondering what you all thought the possibility of making this would be.

If someone gives me a .3DS, .X, .OBJ, or anything 3DSMax imports then I'll get the FireFly into X2.

So what would need to happen is a 3d model would have to be produced? Does anyone have the skill for that? As of now I don't. Are there any freeware/shareware 3D programs that are compatable and could be used for this project? If so I might try it.

The only compatibel program is 3ds max 5-6 and 7
and as far as i know. :roll:

I already have the needed tools and skills, if anyone wants to see it in-game they need to find a 3D model of the Firefly and I can get it in-game.

Holy cow! Look at this page. If I knew anything about modeling, all of these would be in my game!

Well the meshes on this site looks great, but you never would see it in this qualitiy in-game. All the meshes on this site are "high-poly"-meshes, this mean the most meshes have around 100000 Polygons and more.

The model with most polygons in x2, are around 20000 polygons. More would slow down the game extremly.

Tell you what thoguh that stargate modle woudl looks awfully inviting as a warp gate.

Another thing is 2 that these modle would be using some directx 9 tech in there makeup and since X2 only directx 8 your going loose quility

that and as stated the high polly found gona lower frame rates like hell but then again X3 polly count on each ship have been increased significantly so I guess for thous that have the proccessing power go for it.

I just wish there was a freeware edit that was compatible tih 3dmax. Im not going to fork out larg ammounts of money just to be able to add a few things to X2

So now we have a few meshes of a Firefly class transport. All we need is a mod that puts it in the game. I have been fooling around with g-max, which apparently isn't compatable with X2. I can almost produce my own unique designs, but am a long way from being able to put his in to any kind of mod.
