Does anyone know when XOL comes out? Will it be this year, or l8er?

AFAIK they haven't started making it yet,
my guess is 2 years minimum.
Assuming they don’t do an X3 first.

I didn't realise they hadn't begun yet - thats a pitty :( but then again, I do hope they come out with X3 - soo cool! :D

actually, some of the code has been written for x-ou...

but obviously, most of the Egosoft resources have gone and are going into the production of X²▓..

I look forward to both games with great eagerness

i hope after this X2 comes out they go strait onto the XOL :8-)

and they will be the best thing for all of us the that will take aprox 4yrs but then add another because all MMOPG's do end up comeing out late..

I'd be surprised if it took them 4 years.

They're going to use X2 technology for XOL. You can already see a certain modularity in the X2 ships. (Cockpits and engines in particular.)

The problems they have to solve (and may well have had people on them in parallel to X2 development) will in the main be the problems of MMOG design and adapting the basic engine to the MMOG arena.

You only have to look at EVE (slightly different play emphasis but a good example) - it took about 2 years and it is a very polished product as MMOGs go.

Really, they're going to have to launch XOL in 2005 at the latest or not bother.
