Important plot bug information

Post by CBJ » Mon, 31. Oct 05, 01:08

During recent testing, since the release of patch 1.2, it has been discovered that there are some issues with the final chapter of the plot. These mean that the plot cannot currently be completed.

To avoid being caught out by this, please make sure that save your game and don't progress in the plot past the Nividium Plant Scanning mission. You can, of course, continue with other non-plot activities in the game.

The point at which you should stop is:
Spoiler
Show
You have just rescued Kyle after chasing him through an asteriod and being chased your self by the Khaak. At patrol asks you to follow them back to Argon Prime. You return to Argon Prime and contact Ban Dana on the Argon one.

He says you should finish up anything you need to do and return.
Players should save the game at this point and explore, trade or generally do anything they want except continue on the plot.

Sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause, and of course we will be addressing this as a matter of priority for the next patch.

Can you let us know if it's been aknowledeged that there are 2 "breadcrumbs" missing in 2 of the quests as well (at least since 1.2)
Spoiler
Show
Mission 7 - The BBS Message that leads you to the Silicon Mine can be "Missed" and it doesn't seem to come back

After Mission 7 - You are left "Waiting" for Miria to get ready, you obviously have to do something (i'm told you need to hand in the slave girls you saved in mission 7 and the bliss palace) but your not given this breadcrumb and again are stuck - I'm still trying to "cheat" round this myself (IE Do the next step despite not being told to do it in the hopes the story line will just kick up as it does in Mission 7)

X3 requires the player to think to complete the plot at times. There are several areas where the play must stop, think then see what works best. Perhaps even reload a save to see if its easier if done another way.

This was a view those who wrote the missions wanted the players to understand and is in keeping with how the rest of the game works. EG keeping your eyes peeled for opertunities.

Missing a clue should not stop the trigger for the next mission from running if you go to the right place at the right time. So forum tips should still work for those who get stuck.

This is general rule of thumb through out the plot.

The clues them selves emerse the player within the daily grind of life in the X universe. Which is good for Role play fans. If your not in to that then it does not matter if you do not absorb the clues fully. It still works either way. It just adds a little to the story thats all.

I don't mind breadcrumb style quests that require you to figure out the next step.

The problem is for many players those breadcrumbs never appear at all leaving the story progression up to pure fluke to come across.
Spoiler
Show
I Docked with the station and went straight to the BBS (I already knew what to do) and the message was not there and after 12 reloads and different messages each time it never appears.

Yes you can still in this case go to the next step but why would a normal player who never got the bbs message in the station decide to dock with a silicom mine and hail the manager???? odds of that happening???

It Appears that the bbs message is spawned when you hit this part of the story line.
For players like me that are hated by the split and have to spend time getting their standing up the BBS Message will be roated out before we get round to docking and never comes back.
Thinking and pure luck are different,
You can't pass it off with the fact that you can get the "work around" on the forums.
This is an off the shelf game and should not require players to get online and ask for help to get round a broken plot (I consider missing breadcrumbs to class the quest/plot as broken)

Likewise from many years on mmorpgs I know that one time only breadcrumbs are a bad idea that lead to serious frustration and are not really fair on players who may miss them the first time for whatever reason.
Picking up the breadcrumb then trying the quest fine but if you mess up, or forget the clue you should be able to go back and pick it up again and start over and not have to "load a saved game" and do it agian which could mean rolling back days of work or starting the game over from scratch.

Not everyone saves frequently and some will cary on the game for days (like I did) saving over their old games before you realise you've missed something and to "go back"

The 2nd bug I mentioned i've now confirmed is a bug not a missing clue the quest is indeed broken and I've got 4 others on the forums confirmed with the same problem.

Post Mission 7 -

The Girls mention in the comms chatter after you blow the bliss palace that your cargo full of slave girls was not in the plan, should be freed and talk about don and how handing them over to him may not be a great idea. (Breadcrumb)

I did latch onto that eventually and docked with the marauder and talked to don (which i've confirmed with people who did this quest is the trigger to get miria ready)

He tells me to go away he is busy, he doesn't take the girls and the story line does not move on, IE it's broken.

Either I've waited too long or I never picked up the girls or something I thought which again I figured wasn't fair.

I reloaded a save game, no "Girls" or escape pods come out for me to scoop up when the place blows and the comms chatter suggests I already have the girls aboard (I dont see anything in my cargo hold which was full minus the energy cells needed to jump from Farnhams legend to Teladi Gain) and docking with the don immediatly this quest after still does nothing for my game as he tells me to go away.
Either way the story is now stuck and a lot of other people seem to be stuck here too where don won't take the girls and progress the story

As i posted in the reply to a suggested fix before i feel that you have been misinformed of this missions plot line:
Spoiler
Show
"I know this wont work even without trying it as saya dropped miria and the slave girls back to the marauder, (its even in your personal messages if you read it) then when you get back to the marauder, you talk to the don, after that, saya heads to cloudbase southwest to talk to noah who actually is in Argon prime, then Miria boards the tempestine and takes the slave girls home, then when shes done she come back to farnhams legend and sits there indefinitely"

As you can see it would be really stupid if you had to dock and give the slave girls to don yourself for 2 reasons:

1. You never had them in the first place, saya had them along with miria
2. What Miria is actually doing when she says "I come when ready" is dropping the girls home, she even says it in the comm with Don marani (when she says and quote "I get everyone home" - "then i come when ready")

Yes your right i was misinformed I apoligise but the bug remains :)

I've gone back and done this mission again for the 4th time and taken notes step for step.
Spoiler
Show
You get a log note in your messages saying that Saya has taken Miria and "the ladies" DOH back to don and I should go speak with him (Which you do automatically when you get close enough to the marauder)"

So I was right the first time before I got sent on this wild goose chase :)
I've done the story line upto when I'm waiting for Miria to "get ready" and it seems to just hang (4 days real play time and counting).
Thanks for the update though slate, just wish I had read this before i wasted another hour redoing it all step by step just to end up back where I started lol :)

Well I am stuck between missions 7 and 8 too. This is annoying, is it on the schedule to be fixed for 1.3? Does anyone know how to trigger mission 8 (i.e. it is not a bug but there is a missing or very subtle hint)? Will the fix involve redoing the story or part there of?

I would like to add another bug also in the plot.
Spoiler
Show
The mission where you are gona escort the terracorp convoy thru ore belt and after the mission /battle they are stuck in ore belt and wont move away.

I did a scan of all the ships in the fleet and found some flaws whit the terracorp convoy flight leader him self.

Things i could notice was:

His cargo says: -14 fighter drones, yes, a minus key infront of the number.

His speed says: 132.76 even if his speed is 0. he is a sitting duck in space and dont move at all.

His freight bay says: 143/142 so he have to much bays than his ship can fit.

An maybe this is not a bug but if they where intended to jump out of the sector they dont have any energy cells either.

So i assume the hole thing is about the flight leader.

hope this help to sort this problem out.

:)
Edit/ put spoiler tags, sorry forgot that first :)

And this report is for version 1.2.01.

This bug is really fun.. Maybe its the party Miria is talking about?? ..

As i just completed the plot and found myself in the same situation... not only that... i had incoming... apparently some argon novas was really jealous of me getting that ribbon... i ended up having to fight every single military/police fighter in Argon Prime.. with 0% hull... luckily i had the Nova myself with 8x A HEPT... but still... damn... i thought i was done for when that M6 Decided to join the party, luckily he accepted my appologies for attacking... noone else did :(..
Atleast my Fighting Rank was increased :D
The Argon´s didnt like what happened... i lost 2 ranks.. wich means i cant buy a new M3 for a while... this dam bug cost me loads of cash!!.. at the moment i have gotten the hull to 35% thanks to the stuff i stole from Saya´s Barracuda

On top of the other last mission finish problems i noticed that the Argon One was not in Argon Prime.
I found it in the sector the last mission was in along all the other ships in this mission. Some of the ships were still fighting each other.
Also spoke to Ban Danna and his reply was to do about a early mission.

Is it cos you knicked her stuff - some sort of punishment like with the Mercury (??) in X2 if you pinched the shields etc from their TP???

I also was left with 1% hull strength after finishing the plot - and I had 5 novas and 5 busters bearing down on me too - they are left over from an earlier part of the mission, and apparently no one though to tell them I was a hero now.

If this happens to this, you are better off jumping to pirate space and killing them there. This way all the Argon ships won't turn hostile on you, like they do if you fight them in Argon Prime (or other Argon space). You can also pick off a couple one a time as they come through the gate, making it a little easier taking down all the rest.

I just want to chime in and say that I too have the miria bug.

I followed the "Breadcrumbs" , recieved the message from Saya, docked at the mine and talked with the manager, I then rescued the slave girls and the dons daughter, after jumping to farnhams legend I approached the marauder and once I was within roughly 5km the don started talking and miria said that she would talk to me about working with her.

Now shes sitting at the north gate and everytime I try to talk to her she says she is busy I also havent recieved any messages about what I have to do next. ( The most recent plot message is the one about saya taking the dons daughter to the marauder.)
Edit: Oh and im playing version 1.2.01, I updated it from 1.0, not 1.2, just in case that might be the cause of the bug.

I am also experiencing the plot hanging, Mira is doing her hair or something at the North gate. This has been posted in serveral places, and on walkthroughs, but have egosoft acknowledged the bug and agreed to fix it in the next pach?

I've tried earlier saves, defragged etc etc but personally I think that it is random and no pissing about with your PC is going to get it working.

Good job PC users are used to this with new games eh ;o)

Fingers crossed for the patch, can't delete the last couple of weeks of my life...

Missing Factory - Glitch?

Post by ButtMonkeyJoe » Mon, 21. Nov 05, 03:09

I'm on the mission where you help escort a group of ships from the Nividium Plant in the Home of Light Sector. I cannot find the Nividium Plant and I've been searching for hours. Is this plant not in the game or am I just missing it? If anyone knows where it is, please advise. Thanks
