Trying to find Xenon defence platform
So the Xenon took Family Tkr from the Free Families quite early in my game, and now iv got a descent siege fleet I decided to take it back for them... err... I mean... me
Iv been systematically destroying each Xenon station only problem is iv gotten rid of all the ones iv been able to find and still the system belongs to the Xenon... I flown around in a scout trying to see if I can find a xenon station in a distant corner of the system but no luck.
Anyone have some tips so I can find this elusive Xenon? or is this a bug I am not aware of?

Re: Trying to find Xenon defence platform
Are there any other races' defence platforms around?
The way I see it working is that:
-System starts belonging to X race
-Y comes, drops a defence platform, system becomes X-Race(Contested)
-Z race comes (or just you), drops a defence platform. System is still X-Race(Contested)
-X race gets wiped from system. Still remains X-Race(Contested)
So you probably need to wipe out Y race (Def platforms) as well for it to go to Z race.
Re: Trying to find Xenon defence platform
Yea the free families dropped one
what I don't understand is why its not gone from the Xenon and to them or me, plus i got good trade thing going on with the Free families and don't want to piss them off.

Re: Trying to find Xenon defence platform
How would that be decided? Clear, simple rules, please.
The current rules say:
A. If nobody has admin module, then sector is neutral.
B. If one faction has admin module(s), that is the owner.
C. More than one faction: contested.
Only the A and B change ownership. C merely adds the "(contested)".

Re: Trying to find Xenon defence platform
If you just have one platform, destroy just your own admin module and it will go to FRF I suppose.
Plus your module should auto repair (always have repair drones in the station) so it will go to FRF and after a while it will become contested between them and you.
Re: Trying to find Xenon defence platform
It worked
I Save Scummed it and got my fleet to destroy the FRF Defence platform and only lost -1 rep point for it
Now Family Tkr is mine, this is the best outcome... for them... and me

Re: Trying to find Xenon defence platform
Should we have emphasized that it is sufficient to demolish the FRF Admin module, not the whole station?
Teladi had expanded and taken over a sector. They had two Defence Platforms. Had had quite a while. They did offer good money for turret components "out there". I did resist temptation for to do deliveries for credits and apparently so did everyone else. Therefore, when TEL rule was no longer desired, it was a piece of cake to shoot one module from each station; they had no functional turrets.
Tale was different in Flashpoint. HOP had taken it completely, but then ANT and ARG did contest. I chose ANT to get it back. Demolished Admins from HOP first. They had Paranid L Plasma and fighters, I had normal Rattlesnake. Survived. Flashpoint was still HOP and contested. When I attacked ARG Admin, the Argon cries for help were completely ignored by HOP cops.

Re: Trying to find Xenon defence platform
With the current rules, ownership depends on the past state of the sector, which is completely nonsensical. It means a sector can be "owned" by a faction with no presence in the galaxy whatsoever.jlehtone wrote: ↑Sun, 2. May 21, 22:53How would that be decided? Clear, simple rules, please.

The rules could be made to look something like this, in pseudocode:
Code: Select all
if no admin modules then
set owner to neutral
else
set owner to oldest admin module owner
if more than one admin module owner then
set contested
Re: Trying to find Xenon defence platform
Meh, it makes no practical difference. And sometimes you want the old owner to hold, perhaps they can be revived.Admiral Sausage wrote: ↑Mon, 3. Nevertheless current rules can be damn handy at times.Admiral Sausage wrote: ↑Mon, 3. May 21, 18:52With the current rules, ownership depends on the past state of the sector, which is completely nonsensical. It means a sector can be "owned" by a faction with no presence in the galaxy whatsoever.
For example, in my 3.0 Argon game I wanted to keep Antigone Memorial under nominal ANT control, despite an invasion by overwhelming HOP forces which trashed pretty much everything ANT owned in the sector. Did this by incorporating admin modules into my own stations. Construction of these was completed shortly before ANT lost their last admin module. As a consequence sector remained nominally under ANT control, but contested between myself & HOP. Eventually, after supplying ANT with a ton of new ships they managed to retake the sector.
If I had not been able to keep the sector contested the result would have been distinctly sub-optimal. In all likelihood the new ANT capital would have been in Second Contact XI (the only other sector ANT controlled at the time). This would have been decidedly inconvenient since I'd built a lot of stuff in Antigone Memorial on the premise that I'd have convenient customers in the same sector (in particular ANT shipyard, wharf, etc). Really did not want to have to transport absolutely everything I wanted to sell to ANT across multiple sectors full of hostile HOP warships. Sincerely hope this aspect of the game is not changed - it's far too useful to be lost.

Oh... oh all those poor split...
*Takes note* "No need to demolish everything"
Anywho... back to business

Re: Trying to find Xenon defence platform
What's annoying though is the severe drop from blowing up the station.
And the slap on the wrist for blowing up a whole fleet.
For example blowing up 3 ZYA defense stations dropped me from 30 to 27. Blowing up 7 HOP Oddys and their fighter escorts dropped me to 29.
But otherwise depending on the situation I'll clear the whole station anyway, there might be oddities later on if you don't. Unless its just simply wanting to flip a sector, then it doesn't matter. But if you want to contain, better to kill. Or that might be a Tharka's Cascade thing.
