What's next?
Hi Guys
We get dlc and some hotfixes but.... what's next?
Do we have any announcments from Ego what are they actually work on? Did Bernd said something on some video? I just saw that they are hiring so, can we expect another x game (I hope not yet X4 is a greate game with wide are to develope ) or another DLC?

Don't suppose anyone could translate, or at least summarize, what that page says?

Re: What's next?
It's basically saying that "X4-22" is a working title, so don't expect this to be the final release name. Further it states that it is a new and coming standalone open sci-fi sandbox, in which the player alone decides what happens next. So basically a summary of what X4 already is - but it's not too far fetched to assume that the next title (maybe X5) will build upon the foundation (ha ha) of the current title.
In addition, about 950,000 EUR seem to have been funded to the company by the state to help develop the project.

Do You think is this number somehow related to world lore?
Re: What's next?
These threads are hilarious. I'm about 1000 hours into X4 and still feel like I've only scratched the surface, have another 1000 hours more to play, and people are out there going "I'm over it, what's next". Lol.

Re: What's next?
More to the year the request was filed (2022). At least, that's my opinion.

Re: What's next?
That's the thing Oddible, every player is different and experience the game in different ways. I have pretty much played every aspect of this game from construction to storylines. I do enjoy it but for me the biggest satisfaction is to have a Boron DLC added. Then I would consider X4 truly complete. Of course once I played even the Boron DLC then I am like what is next? X22? Its the new and unknown that drives me to play a game.
I was hacked by a Xenon T and my ship board started showing this:

Re: What's next?
to be fair, 950k is what they got, but that seems like a tiny budget to make a whole new sequel, as 50% of your total budget is maximum, and that share gets less the bigger the total budget.
So Im hoping that the subsidy is only to fund new additions to the team, or specific costs they didnt have before, etc. and that the overall budget is much bigger than 2M. Also means that X4 seems to have done well and they can fund development for quite a while longer. so yay for X4 and any potential sequel!

Re: What's next?
Yeah and some people want multiplayer, and some people want to walk around on bigger more elaborate bridges with personal thrones Boron DLC is just another cosmetic request. Screw that. Only if it has a meaningful gameplay story. Unlike ToA which has an OK story but is definitely NOT the "pirate" DLC we were all hoping for.Tidaar wrote: ↑Sun, 15. May 22, 10:27

You take whatever money you can get! That wasn't the ENTIRE INVESTMENT that will be spent on the next project.geckoproductions wrote: ↑Sun, 15. Re: What's next?
You re lucky, enjoy it. If I launch a new game I know what will happen, because, despite the legend, every game look like the previous one. It may be different only if player decide to play completly differently or on a not pragmatic way, but difference will not come from the game itself.
Prediction for the project , is more difficult, but I can presume egosoft will stay a little companie, with an (a too) ambitious project. As result, I can expect lack of means will prevent the game to reach its potential.
Re: What's next?
I hope that X-22 is X4 with Borons and massive overhaul with things that are currently blocked or problematic due to savegame compactibility.

Re: What's next?
if its an x4 new standalone im not sure we will be able to port our saves, i imagin we will see allot of asset/galaxy changes that probably wont be compatable on an old save, but maybe they will figure out some magic, were any of the old saves from previous X games compatable with the next standalone? i dont remember if they were, like X3 reunion to Terran conflict, or terran conflict to albion prelude.
What i really hope X-22 is is like stated above, x4 next generation with boron and a massive overhaul and upgrade to things they couldnt really do with just expansions, hopefully a bunch of moduals that are in the game currently that we cant build for some reason (like the teladi station modules or the terran trade storage moduals, or the special moduals added for the casino, all seem to be functional, just not unlockable to the player) figure we will see those terran jumpgates that are in the code be added but updated since the current versions have collision issues, probably the reason they didnt get added with the terran dlc since they didnt seem ready and those kinds of assets dont seem to be swapable later.
I'm sure we would see allot of good changes they probably been itching to make but couldnt really easily make with existing save compatability in mind.

Re: What's next?
I'll miss being able to stuff 40 S ships in my destroyers though. Because that's clearly going to go.
Re: What's next?
i would love to swap my 40 fighter slots for a single S and M dock on my destroyer though, sad i cant dock M ships to most destroyers, but i guess they are very big compared and would probably look very dumb on allot of destroyers

Re: What's next?
no, thats my point. I hope they didnt take as much as possible, I hope they only took a little bit, so the next sequel will have a bigger budget than just the 2M.oddible wrote: ↑Sun, 15.
