Unguided missiles in turrets do not lead the target

Post by abc0000 » Sun, 22. Jan 23, 21:49

Tested a missile destroyer (unguided missiles). When firing at an enemy, missiles do not take a lead on the target's move. At the moment, missiles can only be used against static targets. Is that what the developers intended?

Why would unguided missiles lead the target? They're dumbfire missiles and travel in a straight line.

Do you mean the targeting system reticule doesn't help with aiming? If so, I recall the reticule is only for active weapons in the primary weapon groups. If not - sorry I misinterpreted your post.

I believe he is saying that the turrets firing missiles do not lead as they would with other unguided projectiles. There are no main weapon missiles on a destroyer so targeting reticles should not be relevant AFAIK.

Yes, I meant that projectile turrets fire taking into account the movement of the target, and rocket turrets shoot at the place where the target is at the time of the shot, without taking into account the movement

Unguided missile turrets! Bug or Feature?!

Why unguided missile turrets do not take into account the movement of the target. like other projectile turrets?

I just didn’t see the answer, is it a bug or a feature?

Unguided rockets are a very powerful weapon against ships and stations, it's just funny to watch how light rockets with a speed of 1100ms do not hit a ship moving linearly at a speed of 140ms at a distance of 5-6 km. or cannot hit a corvette / frigate that has flown close, although machine guns hit, while they have almost the same projectile flight speed (1300 and 1100)

Developers or competent people !!! Please answer the question, I've been waiting for an answer for more than a month ....

Is this a bug or a feature of missile turrets? when firing unguided missiles, they do not take lead, unlike other projectile turrets

Are you saying that projectile turrets are smarter than dumb missile?

let's compare the TER bolt L turret and dumb missile L turret with light unguided missiles? how do they differ in terms of projectile ballistics? and here and there they fly in a straight line. their speed is almost identical, but the bolt one takes the lead and the rocket one does not. Why?

In another thread, dev j.harshaw recently wrote regarding dumbfire turrets:

"I don't think we've gotten to take another look at aim-ahead in this pass, but it's one of those things that's pretty much always on the list."
