Traders move aimlessly around stations (pet peeve)

Sometimes when a station assigned autotrader is searching for trades the trader will move around seemingly aimlessly. I personally prefer the trader to remain stationairy; It resembles ships that are anchored outside a harbor. You don't see docked ships woundering around for no reason.
Some traders will remain stationary however, which makes me wonder if this quirk is intentional.
What seems to trigger it is if something changes their current state such as the manager making changes to the trader's number of wares or 'no trades found in allowed sectors'. When this happens they will move out of their current position and then back in.
It is very minor but does anyone else find this a bit weird?
