[4.0 HF3+SV+COH] Escort wings is repeatedly killed because defense command fails.
Hi, among the many flaws of 4.0 I wanted to point out this big problem.
All of my mine ship escort wings will not return fire if their leader is attacked.
I tried to associate the wing as an interception or attack, but the result is the same.
Furthermore, the ships associated with a wings never communicate that they are under attack or suffer damage, dying inexorably without my noticing it in time.
I spent 50 of the total 300 hours of my new start reloading saves.
Fix this problem as soon as possible because it makes everything unplayable.
All my games are strictly vanilla (never installed a mod since 1.0)

This is most likely the same bug that I reported earlier: viewtopic.php?f=180&t=436876&p=5038700#p5038700
Subordinates on defence role don’t actually defend. I noticed this with all AI faction fleets, only the leader attacks enemies, others just fly around and don’t care if they’re under fire.
Never got any response from the devs, sadly.

got a response from a dev that do to performance defense ships don't get attack commands OOS but somehow its calculated in the attack, guess not really
Fixed ships getting spawned away from ship configuration menu at resupply ships from automatically getting deployables.

Re: [4.0 HF3+SV+COH] Escort wings is repeatedly killed because defense command fails.
It is exactly this problem, but it has been present since 4.0 released, during the beta it worked great.
I thought of a probable workaround.
I should assign the fighter squad (Balaur for example) to the group leader (usually Kuarokami) as attackers and set the leader as miner defender.
Maybe this could work.
I have stopped playing at the moment due to this reason.

that leader on defend will still not get attack command so his subs will still do nothing

Well, I have found a good solution to the problem.
I have set ALL my mine ships with the "counter attack" command in case of aggression via the individual settings.
I have set up all the ships in escort with the command attack.
This means that the miner when attacked responds to fire and consequently the entire escort carries out the same command.
It works very well, no khaak ship can now survive!

the biggest problem is that AI is not that smart and uses defense subs that do nothing

The problem isn't AI it's not smart, it's AI not executing the defense command. In fact, when it does it is effective.
But in my case I solved it by setting the escort ships to ATTACK, so the problem no longer occurs.
I've been playing for two hours and no one has died anymore, they always manage to automatically eliminate all the khaaks (even 7 "queen's guard" at the same time).

Re: [4.0 HF3+SV+COH] Escort wings is repeatedly killed because defense command fails.
The main problem is that AI factions set all their fleets to Defence role. So in a fleet of 50 ships only the leader gets attack orders. Other just get killed off. Huge waste.-=SiR KiLLaLoT=- wrote: ↑Mon, 3. May 21, 19:52

I know, but it is a problem of 4.0 released because until the last beta version everything worked finesh1pman wrote: ↑Mon, 3.
