[4.10] Trade Wares order bugs NPC
Version: 4.10 (458643)
Language: English
Non modified vanilla game.
Game Start: Terran Cadet.
Problem: Glitched NPC that can't be reassigned, can't be fired, and can't have their orders cleared.
This issue occurred when I produced a Mercury Vanguard cargo ship and piloted it. I then told my 2 fighters which are piloted by NPC's to trade wares with me (the cargo ship) and the Kukri fighter pilot completely has broken and her orders can't be cleared. I noticed my other fighter the Kestrel Sentinel behaving weird with the same order being given but their order was able to be cancelled. The Kukri currently is a dead/lossed ship that can't be given commands or piloted manually.
No changes have been made to my savegame or anything of that nature that could be a problem causer in this instance.

Were the ships all actually docked at the same dock of the same station at the time of the order? I can see no other way for the ships (an M ship with no dock piloted by player and 2 S ships) to transfer wares otherwise.

I attempted this while they were escorting me. No ships were docked. Only afterwards I realised I had to be docked to make the transfer. Giving the order while not docked broke the AI in my instance.

Talking to others, the S ships might have tried the transfer in space by dropping the items nearby and then expecting (and waiting for) the recipient M ship AI pilot to pick them up by collision with them. Of course with you piloting the recipient ship, that last bit could not happen.

Ahh that makes sense. To be honest that's the type of behaviour I expected when giving the order only that it worked with me instead of the pilot AI of the M ship.
Is this issue something you're already aware of and was this worth reporting then?

You have the relevant devs discussing the situation amongst themselves, so it was certainly worth it.
When you have personal control of a ship and what it is about to do next, you cannot expect AI orders and behaviours to operate. For example, ware transfers between ships docked at the same station dock will likely not happen while you are in personal control of one of the ships involved. Hopefullly the notification of such an issue and how to move it all forward could be improved though.

Excellent sounds good. That's pretty cool that this sparked a conversation between devs
I'll definitely try remove myself from a lot of those behaviours moving forward.
Maybe a heads up though notifications would be a good way of highlighting this like you say.

Final question on this posting. Is there a way to reset the NPC and its behaviour? My ship is still currently lost.
