Current Version and Build Number: Version: 5.10 HF 2 (477240) - 2022-04-27 + no mods, only egosoft-DLCs used

Hello,
So I am rehashing a topic the mods are probably really sick of, but as a long-time X-fan I really don't get this:
How is it possible that a vanilla game of X4 is tagged as modified on startup, at the main menu?
Like the header states it's the latest release of 5.10, with only official extensins loaded. No 3rd-party mods in use whasoever and no game loaded.
Either hotfix 2 introduces its own bug and thus triggers the warning, or the check itself is too effective.
I get that a savegame used in a public beta or with mods should trigger the tag, but then the check should be done at the savegame loading page, not the main-menu where no details of any saves is loaded yet.

Am I mistaken?

Thanks!

If the game is marked as modified in the start menu then you have modified files. Run a system file validation and see if that solves it. Another common thing that happens is intrusive Anti Virus software, add X4 and personal folders to exceptions to see if it has any effect.

If the hotfix introduced any of this then surly more people would have it no?

MFG

Thanks for the tip, Ketrar.
I submit that the gist of your tip should be incorporated into the modified files warning used in the game, since the idea of corrupted game files really isn't obvious.
