[#31]Ship flies through station walls

Post by frisban » Wed, 25. May 22, 02:09

Version: 5.10 (477240)

Problem:
A ship on autopilot will take off and fly through the wall of the landing pad. No damage is taken. It is as if the wall didn't exist.

To reproduce:
1) Have a ship on a station with a pilot.
2) Have the player board the ship.
3) Bring up the map
4) Click on the ship in the property window
5) Right click the map perpendicular to the landing pad the ship is on and instruct the ship to move to the location.
6) Close the map
7) Right click the pilot and instruct him to proceed with order.

Follow up info:
Flying through walls or base components seems to be a common issue in the game. In X3 the collision detection was excellent and I don't recall a time when the autopilot failed to properly leave a station.

Yes this is indeed sometimes the case. However the thing may be to consider the X4 gameplay impact of any alternative; consider your AI ship using the same pathing and colliding and bouncing around out of control and hardly making any progress instead, or the case where your personal ship gets stuck inside structures or asteroids and you can't just let the AI reserve captain fly you out of it.
