[5.10 HF3]Can't shoot down missiles.

Post by Eskarn67 » Wed, 27. Jul 22, 10:31

During my 800 hours of playing i have never seen a missile be shot down by turrets of any kind, i have even modified turrets in xml to make them insta rotate and fire like a beam but never actually been able to shoot down a missile.

Below is a unmodded game.

Feel free to use the save and get the builder to fire missiles at the flak boat with all turrets set to missile defense.

I use a mix of flak and pulse M turrets on my Cobra and they are pretty good (when set to missile defence) at destroying individual or pairs of incoming light/heavy torpedoes and the higher yield/bigger hitbox/slower missiles. I have also been told that beam turrets are good too. However, there are some combinations of fast, agile, small hitbox, high hitpoint, and swarming missiles that they may have little success with. So, in my opinion, anti-missile turret effectiveness depends more on the incoming missile type. Sometimes turrets and flares are needed, but even that combination only works well for incoming heat-seekers.
