I m having trouble to shoot lockbox
I know the angle of the gun, when it's too close, can't aim at the box because of its angle limitations, but hear me out.
The dot goes to the middle as soon as I deselect the box. Going as far as 1000 km or more doesn't help either.

Also, the dot is not exactly in the middle, but slightly above it.

I can see how going 1000 km away wouldn't help you with hitting the locks.
Seriously, some ships with wide-set or high/low mounted weapons are just not suitable for lockpicking. I like the small fighters with a quite central weapon mount using a small light weapon (even if they have other weapons too) that I can group select as an exclusive lock or hull-tapping weapon. I also find that if you deselect any target and point the ship at the intended impact point then the dot will tend to stick to the moving lock as far as the gimbals will allow it to do so. I only fire when the dot and lock are briefly outside the background box hull just in case of mistakes.

Wait but Rapier has its single gun in the middle, right? oOAlan Phipps wrote: ↑Wed, 27. Jul 22, 15:04I like the small fighters with a quite central weapon mount using a small light weapon (even if they have other weapons too) that I can group select as an exclusive lock or hull-tapping weapon.

Re: I m having trouble to shoot lockbox
The gun is central in width terms but is *way* above the cockpit.

Re: I m having trouble to shoot lockbox
Oh, I see. Is in relation to the cockpit position. I have a question - Do you think the gun aim at 20 meters away should behave differently between a lockbox, a ship and a ship's component?
Re: I m having trouble to shoot lockbox
Oh, disabling Aim assist is improving the behavior! But too close (<75m) and it aim above the lockbox again. I had this idea of disabling Aim assist after my last post lol

Yes, you have to allow for the angular limit of the gun mount gimbals in a full circle, ie any mix of sideways and up/down.
